Good morning everyone! If you haven't noticed, the sale is almost 36 hours in (thats a day and a half, in case you failed arithmetic). And what an exciting 36 hours it's been! So far, 11 limited edition or slipcover editions have sold out in their entirety. Here are the casualties as of this post:
5F5Ys Volume #3
The Corpse Grinders (slip)
Disconnected (blu)**
Grandmother's House (slip)
Grave Robbers (slip)
Horror House on Highway 5 (blu)**
House of the Dead (slip)
House on Tombstone Hill (slip)
Lust For Freedom (dvd)**
Penitentiary (slip)
The Suckling (slip)

Now brace yourself...All of the below are lingering under 200 units left in stock. So if you've been lusting after any of them, you know what to do (and you know how much you'll regret it if you don't):
Mary! Mary! **
Skin Flicks (slip)
Dear Dead Delilah (slip)
Pick Up **
The American Dreamer **

Lastly, three of our May releases are getting pretty damn close to precariously dropping below 500. While they're not there yet, if you were considering picking any of them up, you might wanna keep an eye on the stock totals...just to be sure you don't miss out:
Evil Town **
Nightbeast
Savage Harbor **

** means that the title in question is 100% a limited edition. Once it's gone (assuming it isn't already), it's gone for good and will NEVER be re-pressed again in any version.
Note that the 5 films sets do not include ** by their listings.

The 5 films sets will not be repressed. Vols 1 & 2 weren't. The missing ** is probably just an oversight.

Those sets, so long as they still own the rights to all films, were great little money makers. Everyone I know has them. I got them from VS, at Amazon, used, you name it, giving away copies on top of the four volume set I kept and I'm not the only one who gave several as gifts. I'd be stunned if they didn't do all four again, either in a similar way or as two separate sets of 10 films, for the horror and then exploitation categories, to continue getting paid for that work. Remember, just because a restoration isn't as good as they hoped it would be, their artists still had to sit there and put in all that time and effort. The transfers, as stated with honesty by VS, when the releases were put out there, were not up to snuff, to stand on their own, but, again, as stated, they made for really nice HD sets of imperfectly perfect films. We probably won't see them right away, but why throw away all that effort on a one off? That only makes sense if it doesn't sell well or you've lost the license.

It says in their descriptions on the website that they're limited to 2,500 units are now sold out:

https://vinegarsyndrome.com/products...years-volume-2

https://vinegarsyndrome.com/products...years-volume-3

Granted, Vinegar Syndrome did do another version of Sex World after that sold out, but since these are already bare bones releases, I can't imagine they could do that with these. There are still a few copies floating around in the wild at a reasonable price, but if somebody wants these, I wouldn't wait around to pick them up. I assume the ** next to Disconnected was meant to go next to 5 Films Volume 3 instead since I believe Disconnected is getting a repress of a non-slip edition.

Because their customers would never trust them again if they started lying about what aspects of their releases were limited.

Lucked out today in Fort Worth, TX. Found 2 copies of Dreamworks Spooky Stories for $17 and an Ultimate Edition Dawn of the Dean DVD for $25! Both are currently selling north of $100 each on Amazon!

I'm always sort of jealous of good Half Price Books finds that people post here. The ones in Austin very most usually know how to price their movies in alignment with Amazon.
But congrats on the Dawn of the Dead. That's one of the few DVDs I still own and it's still one of my top favorites in my movie collection.

I never really get the occasional brag find postings in this thread. The thread is for posting when stuff is OOP, not for bragging about OOP finds. It's one thing when it's actually informational like when Crimson Peak LE from Arrow went out of stock and people shared that X store still had it for X amount. It's another when you're just posting pics in the OOP thread to brag. That's what the latest purchases thread is for

Me either. No one talks in the "Latest Purchases thread" either, so an out of print disc is no viewed no different than whatever the latest Dollar Tree crap fest title folks purchased.

Those Dreamworks Spooky Stories and Holiday Classics Blu Rays are fantastic and should never have been allowed to go out of print. Both are part of my annual holiday viewings. I was fortunate to pick up both from secondspin.com for around $32 total 2-3 years ago and was thrilled to find them. .

It’s always nice to see what OOP stuff others find in the wild. It also reminds people to check in case they have any of those stores near them.

I post my OOP pickups in here for a couple reasons: first among them being informative to others that a particular title is indeed OOP.

I can’t tell you how many times I was completely unaware a title was OOP until someone mentioned grabbing a copy. Case in point, the Dreamworks Holiday titles. I figured those get reissued annually during Halloween and Christmas, but I was shocked to see they are OOP. I typically check Amazon and this website’s database prior to purchasing a title, so that’s when I realized that these were selling for BIG $$.

I also post them to let people know that there are retailers out there selling these titles for a reasonable price if you wait and look hard enough. I saw a Dawn of the Dead Ultimate Edition earlier this year for $60 at a HPB, but I waited 12 weeks and managed to get it for $35 less at a different HPB.

If they re-released them, they'd have probably been DVD only. That's what happened with the Dragons specials... Was hoping Universal would have re-released the Christmas specials on BD since that's the one I never got and won't buy anything less than "like new" on eBay or Amazon, I find a bunch that are "acceptable" but ironically "acceptable" is not acceptable... And more than $30 is too much for the franchises I don't care much about and are just getting for other people lol

I don’t really have a problem with people posting OOP finds, I feel the only people who get bothered by people doing it are just jealous haha

It's an OOP thread and people are posting OOP movies they found...I don't see the problem. If someone posted that they just bought the most recent Marvel release, that might raise some eyebrows.

Most of us still trust them after Pretty Peaches and Sex World and all the additional slipcover copies of sold out specials last fall. I can't imagine too many would begrudge them making more money, as that translates into more restorations and more films for all of us, but, also, a slightly different version of the 5 films collections, let's say all of them together as a larger collection or mixing them up into new collections with new titles, wouldn't be a re-pressing. It would be a new release, like with Pretty Peaches and Sex World. No harm done if it isn't the same.

It appears that the Image Blu-ray of Johnny Mnemonic is OOP.
