So sad... I just grabbed 35 titles for about $10.92 each. Made sure to make a point of getting the 20th Centruy Fox titles because of Disney...

I've had my issues with Twilight Time's business model, but this is a sad day and not good news. You never want to see anyone go out of business.

Anytime a boutique label goes out of business it's not good news for physical media in general. I agree, very sad day indeed. The OOP list here is going to be flooded with Twilight Time releases soon.

Well to be fair Nick Redman of Twilight Time said way back in 2011 that TT would probably last 3, or 4 years. It grew, and lasted twice as long. I think if he were alive today Twilight Time would continue. But sad things happen, and this is the result.

Went through the 20th Century Fox blu-ray list in the search options. I really have most of what I want, but I've held off on about a dozen titles I'll grab over the next two months. This thread does help to decide what to buy next in terms of monthly purchases.

There are several titles I saw available on the site last night that have disappeared by this morning (not necessarily Fox titles, but the sale and news of Twilight Time's closure are driving people to buy). |

Sorry for being late to the party. Could anyone tell me what's up with this whole "buy everything Fox related" thing about?

It then leaked out that 20th Century/Disney is ending home video distribution of FOX titles in GERMANY. Many of us are thinking this is simply a sign of things to come across the world. Catalogue titles have started selling briskly/disappearing across the board, possibly due somewhat to low stocks due to Coronavirus shutdowns. 20th Century Fox is now 20th Century Pictures, so even if titles are re-pressed, they will not bear the original logo/label on their packaging. No confirmations on anything else. Some think we're panic-buying, others see it as smart investment, because we think that it's very unlikely that Disney will re-press older catalogue titles on disc, such as older Elia Kazan films like WILD RIVER or PANIC IN THE STREETS...or even GENTLEMAN'S AGREEMENT. |

Disney bought Fox and has zero interest in re-issuing catalogue titles on physical media (or even streaming anything that isn't family-friendly). Thus, any Fox title on BD should be snapped up, because Disney ain't re-pressing ANY of it.

Multiple posters above have posted things that are only tangentially related to reality. I hesitate to call them outright "lies," as I think they are posted in good faith - but they represent profound misunderstandings about what is going on.
Disney has acquired Fox, yes. But that's really the beginning and end of useful information re: Disney's future plans for Fox titles on Blu-ray. Here's a list of things that DON'T provide us any information on their plans: - Disney isn't allowing repertory cinemas to show Fox films anymore: This is not some special policy for Fox films, this is how Disney has Always operated. This is simply bringing Fox films in line with how Disney treats its own films. This has no bearing on Blu-ray releases, and if we follow the logic of "Disney will now treat Fox films like it has historically treated Disney films," then we can assume that Disney will continue to release Fox films on Blu-ray because it has and continues to release Disney films on Blu-ray. - Disney is only putting family-friendly films on Disney+: Yes, Disney+ is a family-oriented streaming service. Disney also has an ownership stake in Hulu, which will continue to host non-familiy-friendly movies and TV series. If Disney were "all-in" on Disney+ and didn't want to have Blu-ray sales interfering with its streaming sales, wouldn't we also all be afraid that Disney Blu-rays are going out of print? Mysteriously that isn't ever a topic under consideration... - Disney is ENDING Fox Blu-rays in Germany!!!!!!: No, Disney is NOT ending Fox Blu-rays in Germany. They are closing Fox Home Entertainment as a SEPARATE distribution entity, presumably meaning that all future Fox releases will come directly from Disney Home Entertainment, a decision that makes perfect sense. Right now, in all countries, Disney Home Entertainment and Fox Home Entertainment still exist as separate entities. When a store or warehouse wants to order titles, they must order Fox titles through Fox and Disney titles through Disney. Those two orders will arrive in two separate shipments. There's no reason for that anymore, so the Fox Home Entertainment entity is being closed, with its functions to be taken over by the Disney Home Entertainment entity. This is only announced for Germany so far, but it will inevitably happen for ALL countries, and it is not remotely a "bad sign." Now that Disney has purchased Fox, this was always always always going to happen. Will some titles go out of print? Sure. I have no doubt that the lowest sellers and most obscure titles will absolutely not be reprinted - but that would happen under Fox themselves, or under any other company that purchased Fox. This happens all the time, with every studio, as we see catalogued in this thread. |

Bottom line: without any official annoucement from Disney, buy what you want to have on Blu-ray in your collection, while it's cheap and in stock.
Disney's track records with Blu-ray is also a good indicator on how things will go from now on for Fox titles ![]() But nothing has been set in stone and announced officially, yet. No one can be even sure that they will put back the already released Fox titles on the market. Of course, it makes sense that they would, but that is a supposition too, and until further official annoucement, it's not 100% sure. The question is also relevant with "big" titles such as the X-men franchise... what does Disney want to do with those characters? Hence the question about the pre-existing movies on Blu-ray: what if? etc etc "Better safe than sorry", that's all people say and they are right to say so if you ask me, even if neo_reloaded calls them liars ![]() |

I explicitly said I would NOT categorize it as lying, but as a misunderstanding of available information. And then I went on to explain exactly what they are misunderstanding and thus misrepresenting.
