Half the Marvel movies are unavailable on Disney+ in Canada. Does that mean Disney doesn't care? No. They just can't do anything until the rights revert back into their hands.

This.

For example, The Princess Bride came on Disney+ in the last month of so, because whatever cable or streaming output deals it was part of came to an end. You’ll see this with more titles in the future as existing commitments expire.

Even some honest-to-god Disney titles aren't available on Disney+ yet because of existing streaming contracts.

All companies are always looking for ways to make money. If the studios thought physical discs were a moneymaker, they wouldn't winding down their output of back catalog titles and licensing so much out to boutique labels.

Perhaps the crisis will lead Disney to license out Fox titles going forward (doesn't cost them anything). But I'm afraid that for Disney back catalog Fox titles on disc are a rounding error (except maybe the biggest ones).

Given their parks and theatrical releases shut down indefinitely, Disney needs all the rounding errors they can get right now

Perhaps most don't realize it yet but this virus ain't going away for at *least* a year.

When you find something rare like that at Half Price Books, sometime's it's even crazier to see just how long it's been sitting on the shelf. The price tag is dated 1-11-20! (although, subtract a couple months for store closures I guess)

Coincidentally, I just donated my Lionsgate Blu-ray to the Animal Aid of Tulsa thrift shop when my Scream Factory Blu-ray arrived. This time last year, I was grateful I had the Lionsgate release.

What else was different this time last year? I can't recall.

Still a great deal. Could probably still get $20 for it easy now, or hold it as piece of horror and/or home video history and put your kids through school later.
Kids is probably a reach, quick double bucks isn't.

Okay, I got little cute with the "rounding error" line, but the studios obviously don't consider physical home video, as opposed to streaming, to be profitable. As far as Disney keeping titles in print, I fall somewhere in the middle: think the big name movies that everyone knows will stay in print/come back, but the lesser-known films may not return. Just my idle speculation, because no one knows for sure. It seems like many of the Fox Studio Classics (the non-sci-fi ones) were already falling OOP last year.

This appears to be OOP:

A few copies left at Amazon (at an inflated price) but no other sellers seem to have stock.

During this period, assuming that anything is OOP based on the item's stock status on amazon can be very misleading.

A lot of the stuff I think is just out of stock but not OOP.

I think most of the followers of this thread go by multiple other sites along with Amazon. That being said, just because a title's out of stock on Deep Discount/BestBuy.com and/or B&N.com and/or selling a little higher on eBay doesn't necessarily prove it's OOP during this time of possible fracturing of the supply chain.

It looks like the 2011 Warner BD is sold now on Amazon through marketplace sellers.
Point Break is a Largo Entertainment production that Fox only distributed. The Largo catalog ended up with Intermedia and then sold to Alcon Entertainment. Warner Bros signed a production deal with Alcon in 2006, which would also give Warner temporary distribution rights to the Largo library when Alcon acquired it from Intermedia in 2010 (and remake rights to Point Break with Alcon). WB and Alcon's deal ended in 2019, which explains Point Break and other Largo titles from that deal they released going OOP.

Unfortunately, large portions of that are not factually accurate.

Fox titles I plan to grab in the next month or two are...

Bachelor Party
The Sound Of Music (older big box set)
Patton
The Poseidon Adventure
Babylon A.D.
Ready Or Not
X-Men-Dark Phoenix
Speed
Speed 2
Avatar (Extended)
Die Hard 5 Movie Collection
Firefly Complete series
French Kiss
The Shape Of Water
Raising Arizona
My Cousin Vinnie
Napoleon Dynamite
Dr. Doolittle
Chain Reaction
High Crimes
Tigerland
The Great Escape
Butch Cassidy & The Sundance Kid
Rising Sun

That's all that I want/need. I was wondering if anyone knew if there's anything here that won't go oop, or I got wrong as far as Fox titles go. I want to make sure I put the stuff up front that will go oop soonest. Thanks very much.
