BDs That Are Out of Print (OOP)

Detroit Rock City looks to be out of print. I've had no luck finding a cheap copy anywhere.

wow, this is weird, a few days ago it seemed to be everywhere and when I just looked I literally could not find a single store, large or small, selling it anywhere in the entire world, all I see are two beyond insane prices for it on ebay ($400+ )

They literally sold out from panic buyers. It’s still listed on Mill Creek’s website and there has been no statement or communication to imply that it is out of print. Things do go out of stock sometimes, especially when there’s suddenly a rush of people desperate to buy them. They come back in stock when the demand has been caught up with and fulfilled.

Not only that but the pandemic is going to make new printings become slower to get out on the market. In fact that can apply to a lot of movies/TV shows recently going out of stock, the pandemic is just making new printings difficult to get out on the market. Though I do expect Disney will use this to clear through all the old Fox releases in order to make way for Disney-style re-releases.

I wonder if it is just a sudden sell out all over from panic that they will remove episodes or if it got a sudden pull and recall from everywhere to remove a few episodes for a re-release?

The first one, otherwise it being the #1 best selling Blu-Ray makes zero sense. If it was pulled, people wouldn’t be able to buy it and it couldn’t climb the ranks like it did.

Unfamiliar with Cotton Comes to Harlem but it looks great and I had no idea Red Foxx was in it. Sanford and Son is one of those shows that nearly had me in tears from laughing when I watched it as a little kid in syndication on tv in the early 90s or so. Not sure how well that show would hold up today, but I always had a respect for RF as a comedic talent. Will have to look for a copy of that.

That's getting bid up higher than Gone with the Wind on ebay, it just might be OOP for real.

There are some silly people on ebay, but the last 18 or so copies have sold for $30 or more and the 2 active auctions are already over that mark. A couple selling for that could be panic, this many sounds real to me.

MVD are Arrow's distributor in North America, so it sure sounds like at least the current "Special Editions" are soon going OOP. It could mean before they get repressed without the booklets, etc.

The UK Arrow editions of those might be another matter altogether.
