I'd guess they will replace all the ones they just took back from Criterion.

I'm not obsessively careful as I used to be, but I do make an effort to handle things with care.

I felt a glow of pride a few times when I've brought discs in to Bull Moose for trade and the employee going through them remarks on what good a condition they're all in. One was surprised at how many of them included all the slips and inserts and stuff and nonsense that the discs obviously came with.

Even cleaning a dvd or cd with a microfiber cloth can still add some scratching.
Back in the day, I'd bought a number of used laserdiscs that looked like they were used as shuffleboard pucks. They still played perfectly fine.

If you have a local Barnes & Noble, try looking there. On Thursday, I went out to my two local B&N's and found four out of the five OOP Paramounts that I didn't already have. That was at one of the stores; the other one didn't have any of them.

I already had La Dolce Vita; the one I couldn't find was Nashville. Bestbuy.com had Nashville listed, but said it would be backordered. I've no confidence they'll be able to get me one, but I figured I'd give it a shot.

Thanks for the tip. I’ll give it a go tomorrow. :

Edit: Got the last copy at the closest Barnes and noble that carries movies (my local one doesn’t). Thank you so much for the tip!

Outside of your own personal laziness, slobbiness or whatever, I've never understood why someone would pay good money for something and then treat it like a disposable baby wipe!

I had a girlfriend once who would always open my discs by grabbing both sides of the case and yanking them back until the front and back covers almost touched every time she wanted to watch a movie. And then practically snap the disc in half trying to get it off the spool. She was good enough to stop after my heart stopped and I lost consciousness a couple of times but I never could get an answer why she felt that was necessary. She did the same thing to books -- grab both covers and SNAP!... crack the spine with an audible sound that I still hear in my nightmares.
Well, at least her "grab and snap" technique probably saved your life when it came time to start your heart again!

I always watch in horror and wonder, is this something he does on purpose? How can someone do this and not be aware they're doing it?
Most people just don't care. It's not that they want to purposely ruin you things (I assume), it's just how most people think when it comes to handing materialistic objects. These things are disposable in their minds. If it is there's, they would do the same thing. They buy it, enjoy it, then it's forget about that and on to the next thing. These are obviously not people with collectors mentalities. I let a friend borrow a game once, and go to get it. The disc is bottom down on the ground and case is nowhere to be found. Another friend I let literally open the game, and borrow it. It came back scratched as hell. He also wanted to say "I didn't do it".

I never let anyone borrow my things anymore. I'd also never date someone as dumb about media as anyone any of you mentioned or like those friends I mentioned. As much as it seems like there's a lot if us out there because of these forums, us OCD collector types are a rare breed. Most people are careless and about the here and now only.

Chain Reaction, Volcano (Tommy Lee Jones), Wing Commander and the single releases of Tremors 2 and Tremors 3 are also long out of print. I wish these studios would keep these films in print instead of feeding the secondary market.

Chain Reaction and Volcano are high on my my list for new bluray releases. I'm bummed I put the DVD copy of Volcano I found in a Goodwill back on the shelf. I thought I could just order the bluray. Erm, nope.

Looks like this is OOP now:

That being said, the British release is a pressed disc and is Region A friendly.

Tell me about it. There are a lot of people who don't particularly like Chain Reaction but when you have a stellar cast like Morgan Freeman, Fred Ward, Brian Cox, Rachel Weisz and Kevin Dunn, it really is an awesome popcorn movie. I'll be the first to admit that it does have some pacing issues, like when the movie slows down between the ice river chase and when they finally meet up with "Maggie" but otherwise, it really is a good weekend movie.

Volcano also is a good popcorn movie. Here, we have Tommy Lee Jones, Anne Heche, Done Cheadle and John Corbett (in a brief role). The first movie I watched with Don Cheadle was another science fiction classic, Mission to Mars.

I finally managed to nab Volcano in the form of an overseas steelbook for a fairly decent price, certainly way less than $80+ at Amazon US and ebay for regular U.S. version.

Hope so. I couldn't get myself to pay $44 each after fees for them even at regular msrp prices inside B&N.

It's hard for me to imagine them rereleasing La Dolce Vita, but it's likely they'll put out Harold and Maude and Nashville. And I think the Essential Fellini set will stay in print with La Dolce Vita included for several years at least.

Curious to see what the specs and audio tracks of Paramount's La Dolce Vita would be like? I believe it won't have most of Criterion's extras but we might get the rare US theatrical trailer or a modern fluff one. I'm 99% sure they'd be using the same 4k restoration with Italian audio, but I'm curious if Paramount or the Italian companies have elements for the rare 1960s English dub? That track was supposedly only heard on a UK or Australian DVD.

I thought Paramount had already announced their own reissue of La Dolce Vita for May 25.

WBMakeVMarsMovieNOW well done to you, pity that scalpers on Amazon & ebay-usa don't think of these things

The announcement I saw was for just Rosemary's Baby, Don't Look Now and Days of Heaven.

Ah, there's a page here for it, but maybe it was created by mistake:
