Shout factory just posted on Facebook that freaks and geeks the complete series is going out of print.

Here's the deal:

These are going out of print on 6/30. But if they sell out between now and then, that's it.

So we're not saying now is a good time to pick up a copy, but... Now is a good time to pick up a copy.

That's been listed on their "Going out of print soon" page for a while now.

Frankenstein's Army seems to be sold out everywhere due to the RE (Resident Evil) controversy. Hopefully it's not out of print.

What is the "RE controversy"? I don't see anyone with those initials listed here or imdb.

I bet they've just sold out of the current lot. Peoples interest from the controversy probably helped with sales.

Yeah, I've never heard of 'Frankenstein's Army' and it seems to be well liked by fans of more modern genre films, but if based on that article, the title that would be removed (at least temporarily) is the RE one, as that's the newer title under accusation of stealing from FA.

I don't think anyone's saying that Frankenstein's Army has or would go out of print because of this controversy.

Quite the opposite; the game has put this movie on a ton of peoples' radars. Might even get another pressing out of it lol.

That said, I looked at the twitter thread, and while Propellerhead is quite clearly a very blatant copy, the other examples are reaches.

Clearly the game took some inspiration from the movie in terms of the overall monster design, but the only thing that can really be called a ripoff is Propellerhead.

Still though, the balls on those devs to be that blatant about it.

Default Children of Divorce (1927)

Children of Divorce is out of print as a BD/DVD combo, but is still available through the end of Flicker Alley's licensed term in a manufactured on demand (MOD) format.

I hear from a birdy who has a product involved that AMAZON is ending their production of physical media/MOD releases? I think that's the case. Just a heads up for anyone wanting anything in that arena. (Is there a list of these anywhere?)

If this is true, I'm hoping it only applies to BD-R disks that amazon themselves manufacture, which honestly, wouldn't be missed by me.

They used to manufacture a lot of branded stuff in-house, however. I'm 99% sure they manufactured Warner Archive DVD-Rs in-house. If they now have to source them from an outside vendor, this could explain why there has been a wait of weeks to a couple of months on any WAC DVD-R orders lately.

Looks like this is OOP:

Only a few copies left from third party sellers on Amazon. I couldn't find it stock with other major retailers.

Unless you have a genuine interest in the hobby itself, it's difficult to determine what has value and what doesn't.

Pawn shops focus their attention on selling $250 chainsaws rather than the very remote possibility of a $100 OOP disc among the 3,000 titles they have on their shelf.

One local pawn shop in my area is quite savvy about eBay prices but in a relatively small town no one is going to walk through their doors and plunk down $100 for a DVD or Blu-ray.

My opinion of it? If it's worth $100 on eBay, sell it on eBay.

I agree and it's a good thing they don't focus on OOP discs because if they did that would take the fun out of it pretty much. Finding an OOP disc at a cheap price is always a blast.

Yes it is. I love movies. Now, when you get a copy of "Dogma" on day one, you have no idea what's going to happen years later. That's why the oop prices frustrate me. It doesn't happen with every blu, and there's no way of predicting the future. If any of these were the case, people would be buying 20 copies of every movie they could. I just own movies I lie, and don't care about their value.

That is really weird. I got mine from Amazon like a month and a half ago for 14 bucks and now it's just completely gone from the internet.
