I totally understand--I've had to go the Amazon route when I've hesitated to order titles from the WSL sale.

Are there any other Miramax titles that have been remastered since the original BDs?
Just reading "The English Patient" and DVD-era master makes me want to throw up!

I have a hunch that this is going OOP. It's listed on the Shout! Factory website store as not being available, which is odd. However, it's not in their Going Out of Print section; it's just not available. So if you're interested, go ahead and pick this one up. 20 copies left on Amazon.

I hope this means a 4K Scarlet Box.

That’s what shout factory does when the item is sold out. Nothing unusual. Probably just in between pressings.

Are some of the Scooby Doo movies going out of print? Some can’t be bought new online and are going up in price on secondhand markets. Monster of Mexico and Aloha Scooby Doo for example

It looks like the Deep Blue Sea/Snakes on A Plane/The Long Kiss Goodnight triple feature could be oops.

Just picked up a used copy just in case.

Hmmmm. Usually this means one of the included titles is OOP since it's the same discs as the solo releases. Looking at amazon and ebay, it could be either Snakes of Long Kiss, with Snakes going for a few bucks more, but Long Kiss only from secondary sellers. No way should Snakes be $20 new seeing how it has been bargain bin fodder for years. Then again, Deep Blue Sea is only from secondary sellers on amazon, so maybe all 3 are winding down. You can still get DBS for a song though. That should be a cult classic by now but apparently isn't. Was never a fan of Long Kiss but have the other 2 so I'm good.

I thought Long Kiss Goodnight had been OOP for many years. Maybe they were just in-between pressings at the time.

Could be. The most recent Scooby-Doo titles dropped blu-ray, and went back to DVD.

First time poster here, so thank you for this forum. My great-aunt was an extra in the movie Cocoon (1985). Several years ago, I picked up a used VHS copy as I didn't have it in any format. We moved to a new house six months ago and, after going through some things in our garage this morning, I finally found the box of old tapes that included this tape in particular. I thought, "I should probably get a Blu-Ray copy of this since I don't have one yet."

Well, that's when I soon discovered that the Blu-Ray was long OOP. I then tried looking for it on Amazon and other streaming platforms - nothing. I really couldn't believe it. A two-time Oscar winning movie with an all-star cast is unavailable to purchase or watch anywhere outside of the used market. Just hard to comprehend. Anyway, some really interesting comments on here. Thanks for the information as I had no idea how extensive this issue was and still is.

Pick up the German release on eBay. It’s region free. Here’s a link

You should consider upgrading all your favorite VHS to Blu-ray or even 4K. Unless you are into mostly obscure stuff, you should be able to find most readily available on Blu-ray in North America.

Now if you're looking for The Abyss or True Lies, then we have got a problem

Thanks. I've started upgrading slowly to Blu-ray/4K now that my kids are getting into some of my old favorites, so it gave me an excuse to do it. Wasn't aware of the issues with The Abyss or True Lies until you mentioned this and I looked it up - wow! I haven't seen The Abyss, but True Lies was a great film. What a shame we may never see it get the proper treatment it deserves.

Abyss and True Lies are coming soon, have been for 20 years!
Same with Peter Jackson's early works, although I think those have only been promised for 15 years.

I'd say lets bet on which happens first, but that is pointless. No one here will be alive to collect if either ever does happen.

Abyss and True lies are cheap on dvd, but are both ancient non-anamorphic transfers. I've seen True Lies in 1080 on cable and it looked nice, so maybe/probably there are "custom" BDs out there. At least the dvds are original widescreen versions.
