BDs That Are Out of Print (OOP)

There were a few listings of the double feature this morning on eBay for around 16 or 17 dollars, each with multiple items for purchase. One sold out within hours and the other ended the listing as no longer available for sale.

funky butt luvin'

can all of these be out of print. I see Sex and Lucia is out of print I wanted to get it at some time but it is now $ 304 dollars, I didn't realize so many were out of print. Did they say that all of these were limited run or what. I can see steelbooks and Criterion being limited run but they should say on the site that all these movies are limited run.

Said it before, and I'll keep saying it. Amazon are seller wishlist prices, ebay is what people are paying. There is only copy of the BD on ebay USA (didn't check Canada) and it's buy it now for $143. Last one that sold went for $90. Still quite pricey, but not close to that $300+ on amazon. DVD must be OOP too judging by prices that's asking/getting.

Most of these weren't limited editions/limited runs which is why the site doesn't have any sort of disclaimer on them. A good majority of these titles are out of print because movie licenses expired or were sold. This isn't generally made public though on occassion it is. When a distributor loses access to a license many many films are affected and that's where threads like these come in handy.

99.9% sure it's just a new cover, but the MBE cover is better.
If they went back to the old crappy transfer, we'd have heard about it by now.

Sex and Lucia was a title from Lionsgate's now-defunct Palm label. Music Box has acquired the digital rights in recent years but apparently, Lionsgate may still have the home video rights (either them or the producers). If this wasn't the case, I'm sure Music Box (via MPI) would have reissued it by now.

The Miramax catalog/license was sold two or three years ago and The Morgan creek Catalog/License also recently expired/was sold (I can't remember which). Those two licensed catalogs amount to a large amount of films. You then have smaller distributors that can't keep producing things forever and a much higher prevalence of Big Studios licensing out limited pressings to smaller studios which also makes for quick sellouts and more OOP titles. Licenses expiring/being sold is nothing new, however in the past who ever purchased said license was usually quick to pump out their own version of said films and the number of copies was well about 10000 which was once considered "limited"... these days, months if not years go by before a new edition is released, hence why so many films skyrocket in price and are hot commodities.

Yep. Plus ACE VENTURA or GET CARTER if you can find those locally.

EXORCIST and FRIDAY THE 13TH are going to be extremely collectible, especially if we hit Halloween this year and neither have been re-issued.

Looks like you can still get the Exorcist Anthology on Amazon Canada. But make sure you order the American edition which lists as an import, and not the Canadian bilingual packaging, unless you don't care about French writing.

So is Ace Ventura out of print or just When Nature Calls/the 2-pack? Been meaning to pick up the first but couldn't care less about the second, any awareness would be appreciated.
