Its up when its up. They make an announcement on when it will be up and miss it, just makes the little kiddies mad. They make an announcement of when it will be up and rush to meet it, do a sloppy job, and it either goes down as soon as its back up or isn't totally secure makes people mad. GIVE SONY A CHANCE TO REBUILD IT PROPERLY. Sony isn't going to give us step by step on what they are doing. Why should they? If its not up this week, they will give another estimate.

I don't understand why we're not seeing Twitter releases at least saying "news coming soon" which they did when PSN first went down, that at least told us they knew gamers were monitoring comms channels.

I've heard nothing from Sony on the blogs or Twitter since they announced PSN would be back this week. They've got 3 more days of "this week" to flick the switch.

I think it would be a mistake for them to switch it on over the weekend when millions of gamers will all try to log on at the same time. Turning it back on during a weekday morning would be better as the logging on and updating would be staggered. Unless their new data centre is capable of delivering high speed downloads regardless of how many PSN users are logged on.

Let's hope so because I'm fed up of rubbish download speeds on Wednesday's when the store gets updated!

My thoughts exactly. Could you imagine 20 million people all trying to log on at once??

The news coming soon was about the initial announcement of their network being hacked, what was taken, etc.. All that is now out, including a written statement to a Congressional Hearing. They are rebuilding the network and it takes time. After rebuild they need to test it. They find a problem in testing, back to the drawing board. Testing includes network function and hackability. You want them to announce they failed x amount of tests once they thought they had it complete? What good would that do?

This week? Meh, hard to believe.

I'd like for PlayStation Store to be available this week but it's not likely to happen.

Please take your time, Sony, that it won't happen again the same thing (25million personal information got stolen).

I've got 3 (see sig) but I won't be purchasing any more if one of them dies.
Like that will even happen here..... PS3's are rock solid if you don't turn them on much

I've had mine since December '06. For the first 2 years it was on 24/7 (Folding@home), and since it has probably been on for 50+ hours a week without any issues .

On 1st May on the EU blog, Sony announced PSN and Qriocity services would be available "this week". In fact the announcement said they would "shortly begin a phased restoration by region of services".

No, I don't expect them to tell me if testing has failed, but I do expect them to keep us up to date with progress on the regional restoration of services. I'm simply asking for updates on an announcement they made five days ago, is that unreasonable?

I don't expect an update, if its not up, until tomorrow afternoon at the earliest, Monday at the latest. And if they say, we will be up at x time on y day, what do you think is going to happen? Maybe become overloaded and crash?

All it would take would be a tweet every three days saying "we're still working on the new network. Thanks for your patience."

nothing is disconcerting. No other company would say nothing. I gaurentee Apple would be giving up to date info if Itunes went down.

Right. Jobs would probably say its our fault that PSN went down. And you know they are working on it. Why do you need affirmation? You don't believe they are working on it? I guess the Japanese believe you tell someone you are doing something, you don't need to reiterate it repeatedly. And right now they seem to have their hands full with the FBI, and governments around the world bombarding them with questions.
