There's a possible chance this is going to get a 4K release in the future. Whiplash was just announced coming to 4K in September and both films are shot with the same 1080p camera.

The camera was the venerable 2.8K ARRI Alexa, it was just set to 1080p capture for those shows. I don't see the correlation between releasing Whiplash and Drive on UHD though, them using the same camera means nothing as upscales from 2K or 1080p are commonplace on UHD.

I enjoyed this movie. I seen it briefly after it hit videos back in what? 2011?

I never bought it to own. Recently got the itch to buy it to see again but the looming idea of a 4K release is making me hold back. Holding out hopes for the media release world is always annoying.

Is it just me or is the standard version you can get in the US the most hideous cover artwork out of all releases even internationally? I'd be happy with a steelbook purchase but the ones on eBay are damaged or pricy. Not opposed to spending a little money but the versions out there are beat to shit.

New to the party? The steelbooks have been damaged or pricey for ages. I'm praying for a 4K disc to put in my steelbook.

US disc is definitely the way to go though. Only buy that UK steelbook for the steelbook as the disc is slightly inferior.
