Hands down the best movie that has come out of Hollywood in a very long time. If Albert Brooks does not win "Best supporting actor" then the Academy has lost all accreditation IMO.

Nick Nolte deserve it much more for his role in Warrior

Yeah, I was hoping it will be out on Blu by Christmas so I can add it in my Christmas wish list. Oh well...just have to wait another three months.

I've been wondering when they were going to release this and praying that it would be out in time for Christmas. One of the best films of the year!

I'd be cautious about blind-buying this one, can't say I found the movie to be mind-blowing.

I saw it twice in the theaters, and was going to go a third time, but had a friend have something come up. Best of 2011 so far. Day 1.

I liked this movie, but after hearing so many things about how awesome the soundtrack was I was honestly a bit disappointed. Regardless, I consider the second best film I've seen this year (Tree of Life is my favorite).

I found the movie to be a complete waste of time and money. Can't believe the 90-something percent approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, even among top critics. They really should know better.

The whole thing is completely shallow...which would be OK if it weren't pretending to be some kind of existentialist-noir-masterpiece. Fast Five has more value than this thing. At least it knew what it was and delivered. Drive is a complete nothing.

In no way am I arguing with you or saying your wrong, but i would like to say Drive is what can be described as: minimalist filmmaking, and its not for everybody. the amount of subtle range in emotion portrayed in such small amounts is what makes this film truly great. you dont need an over the top score with people shouting, shaky cameras etc to understand that some serious shit is going down. Drive shows that all you need is the right quiet, uneven tone in order to portray a sense of real fear. I found myself on edge the entire movie, really fearing for the character and understanding their viewpoints at their core.

This film isnt for everyone, some people really need a point directed right at them or dumbed down in order to understand how characters feel in a scene, but Drive, for me, really puts you in situations where you feel the fear, you're making connections yourself, and understanding the gravity and impact of Driver's actions in order to understand the story in a very simple, minimal way, and any screenwriter/actor/director knows this is incredibly hard to pull off. Drive is not about the simple storyline. its about the complicated characters and how they are portrayed in such a minimalistic manner.

Staring at each other for 5 minutes without saying anything while the alterna-hipster soundrack drones on in the background does not equal complicated. It equals pretentious.

If the film made a few more concessions to the audience I would have enjoyed it much more...as it is it is all stylish build-up and no payoff.

people fall in love and stare each other, its the the cute, quiet moments together that can say more than what words can describe. have you ever fallen in love and felt that quiet indescribable feeling?... and i wasn't even talking the love scenes, I was describing the action scenes in Drive compared to FF because thats what you were obviously describing. both are entertaining for different reasons and I described why Drive was so entertaining to me. hey man i'm really sorry youve missed my point its ok i forgive

Staring at someone in silence is pretentious? I think the critics are being pretentious for praising it as if things like that were deep, but the movie itself didn't feel pretentious to me.

They didn't just stare at each other. Subtle changes in their facial expressions, their eyes and so on - it was all there and very convincing. It's acting. Admittedly not a way of telling a story that is to everyones's tastes, but I loved every second of it. Not because it was "art" or "deep". Just because it was great acting.

And I loved the soundtrack by the way.
