We are not. It is just so horrid. Possibly the worst cover I've seen, considering the extent to which they decided to destroy everything this movie was in one image.

I went to the Sony website and tried to find a customer service email were I could sent a link to this thread in an attempt to show them how their horrific actions are leading to people not wanting to buy it. Couldn't find one.
The cover is indeed awful, considering the movie is a masterpiece. Any of the posters would've been fine for the cover, especially a nice slipcover.

Seriously. People shouldn't be allowed to complain about films they downloaded.

I haven't heard one person speak negatively about the film, but I just don't know if Gosling is a believable badass or not. Although I thought Adrien Brody was pretty good in Predators, so I suppose I should give it a chance.

^ The Gos isn't really supposed to be playing an "Expendable" type badass in this one. He's the man of few words who doesn't kill unless he has to and in this film his character's got a bit of a psychotic undercurrent.

Psychotic might not even be the right word (though it is one that Gosling used in an interview describing the Driver), but you get the feeling that he's had to get his hands very dirty in the past and he knows what he's doing. He doesn't really show much remorse, or convey to the audience or other characters a desire to get out of the "business," but instead just seems to do what he has to do.

It helps that you don't know anything about his past and such revelations come through in the film gradually. The juxtaposition of his growing relationship with Carrie Mulligan's character and her son, and some of the violence (given the context) made me root for him. But it becomes clear that if you **** with the Driver, you're gonna get yours.

That, I think, is a bit better than the typical tattooed, "this guy is clearly capable of kicking the shit out of you" badass.

Hey, calm down buddy. I go to the theater plenty. But in this case, none of my theaters were showing this movie and I very much wanted to see it, so I downloaded a rip online that was good quality, but not the greatest. I debated waiting, as I usually do, for a better rip, but I really wanted to see the movie and didn't want to wait. Unfortunately, I did not enjoy the movie as I had hoped.

If my opinion on the first viewing of this film offends you, I'm terribly sorry. But, I am giving the movie another chance, this time in better quality, to see if it was the quality that was really holding me back from liking this movie (even though it probably wasn't ).

Also, for the record, plenty of things I download are on par with blu-ray quality. I get the full experience most of the time.

And I don't think I was complaining? I didn't enjoy the movie when I watched it. I'm giving it another shot. The end.

Oh I'm not offended, my girlfriend hated this film as well. And to be honest, I went into the theater with completely different expectations than what it was, and left in a weird mood. It wasn't until the next day when I was thinking/reflecting upon the movie did I grow to love it.

And you know, if it doesn't come to your theater, instead of waiting for a better rip, have you thought about waiting, you know, for an official blu ray release? I'm sure the quality is fine of what you download, but there is quite a difference in experience when you're watching on a 13" computer screen vs a 50" HD television screen.

Pretty sure 15 GB rips are about the same quality as physical blu-rays. I don't think many people bother with DVDrips anymore.

Why are the Mods now clamping down on all this talk of 'rips' on this forum?

This is Blu-ray.com isn't it? You know, about Blu-rays, like.

FFS guys get your act together.

This.

And, I stream all of my downloads to my 55" Bravia, and they look great

As for downloading itself, I only do it to try to avoid bad blind buys, and if for whatever reason I couldn't see it in theaters. And the majority of the time, I wait until a blu-ray rip is online. In this case, I didn't.

Regardless, totally off topic and unnecessary conversation/argument. Let's get back to how bad the cover art is.

Man that cover art is really bad. Even for a mediocre film, that would be bad. For a masterpiece like Drive, it's an insult to cinema lovers.

This.

On a side note, IGN.com is holding a poll to see best movie of 2011. I was shocked and glad to see Drive was in lead spot by about 85 votes ahead of number 2, Harry Potter (another great film, but that was expected). Go there and cast a vote! (no account, can do it anonymously)

wow, that's great news but also surprising. I haven't been to IGN in years. Their game reviews seemed so artificial, based on hype and marketing.
And their movie reviews were terrible. 300 may be a fun film, but IGN treated it like it would change all of cinema around the world.
That and some of their nasty commenters eventually drove me to other blogs.

But it's great to see that Drive is getting real recognition. I also see that it's got a reasonably high amount of pre-orders according to this site.

Yeah, their game reviews are really, REALLY biased, but I watch them to see actual game play footage and see how they break it down.

When it comes to movie reviews, Drive was the first film they gave a 5.0/5.0 in years! That was a shocker, and probably why it's leading the poll.

Well if they gave it a 5/5 I guess their scale changed and their taste in films improved drastically. I'm glad a well-known site like IGN can promote a film as good as Drive.

That is one awesome cover. I would kill for that to be the cover of Sony's upcoming release. Instead we got crap.

I just ordered mine from the UK and have noticed that on this site the UK running time is 96mins, while the US running time is 100 mins, should I be concerned?
