Are they so starved for attention that this is what they need to do?
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I don't see any problem with someone stating they didn't like the film...but once. You don't need to go on and on about it unless you are providing reasonable things as to why you didn't like it.

Well, there is going to be a sequel to the book...so I'm assuming they would most likely do a movie. I don't see the problem with a movie. If everyone alive is still involved...including the same directors, etc...I'm sure they would do a good job at it. If there is good intent in making a sequel, they can turn out amazing...see Toy Story series. Something like Hangover was obviously just done for money (but I still liked both!).

I didn't even think of this, but that would have been nice.

I can't wait until mine arrives! I probably won't be able to pull it off AT ALL, but at least it looks cool and I can wear it when I'm alone LOL. Or maybe sell it one day since a lot of people are interested in them.

Most likely true. lol

agree completely. AWESOME moment!

You have a vivid imagination! That's not how I took it at all.

I have to agree - really for me the only part of the movie that I thought wtf.
[Show spoiler]I guess I understand they wanted another chase / action sequence but it would be difficult for that car would stay with the Mustang - especially when you throw in the fact that the Mustang is being driven by . . . The Driver who is suppose to be this all star behind the wheel.

It's actually a Chrysler 300 SRT8, which has more power than the Mustang. It's quite capable of keeping up

[Show spoiler]Well I can't argue with you on how much power the car has as I don't know much about it - I just think it takes something away from the "Driver" that he could be run down and then basically have that guy stick to him throughout that chase, oh well its just a movie (a great movie ) and I understand the tone that was trying to be set in the chase that they were up s*** creek for some unknown reason

[Show spoiler]See, I liked it because really, in a chase that is mostly straight lines, a good driver isn't going to make a car faster than it is. That's what kills me about the Fast and Furious movies (even though I still love them, save 2F2F), is that they have this car going 100mph and somehow they're still able to downshift two or three gears at wide open throttle to get an extra boost. His skill definitely came into play in the turns and I liked how he used his skill to win more than just raw speed or power. I also liked that they actually used an SRT 8 because when I first saw it I was saying to myself "unless that's an SRT there's no way," but you can actually see the badge on the back. I appreciated that little attention to detail.

My steel finally came in today. That bad boy's going to go on display in my collection.

Popped it in, checking it against the US (Sony) version, then I'm going to watch its extra: a different and longer interview with Refn than on the Sony (there's a TV spot too. I guess that's a little different than the US one).

This is the third time I'm watching this film this week.

I don't see how you're getting hung up on that. It's not a footrace, it's cars. If the other car has the necessary horsepower (which it apparently does, as others have testified--not much of a gearhead/car guy myself) and its driver is reasonably capable (why would we assume this isn't the case?), Driver isn't going to magically leave him in the dust. Besides,
[Show spoiler]Driver being forced to outwit/force the other car into a crash makes for a much more suspenseful sequence. That he's able to improvise and do so under such tight circumstances is testament to his skill as much as simply "dusting" someone.

This was a blind buy for me.
Watched it last night and cannot wait to view it again.

This is a pretty flawless movie. I love the feel of it and the soundtrack is amazing. I loved some of the slo mo shots.
The elevator scene was amazing and you can almost see "Driver" physically transform when he is looking back at Irene.

Plus it gives us one of the best quotes in a while.

Yeah that really annoys the shit out of me. You know damn well that people rape these limited editions (that goes for any ltd ed like the steelbook too) just to sell them for triple the price on eBay. They should limit it to one per person for limited editions.

What an incredibly great movie. I wasn't sure this was going to live up to all the hype that I've read about on this forum, but it did! A very good friend of mine who also happens to be a movie fanatic watched it last night and he thought it sucked. I just thought to myself, man, we have very different tastes in film. To each their own, but I just don't see anyone saying this film sucked.
Finally...... a movie that is killer in every aspect.

I have to add that this is probably the best movie I have seen in the past few years. Going to be difficult to top this.

Vivid imagination?

It really doesn't seem far-fetched, since there was apparently enough online discussion regarding whether
[Show spoiler]he lives or dies
for Refn to have to come out and confirm it one way or the other.

I see what you mean,
[Show spoiler]I have to bow to those who know more about cars and after BStecke's comments I can see where he is coming from in explaining how the 300 was able to jump and stay on him, after all when he got into anything beyond going straight line the driver ate his lunch. I guess if I'm hung up on something its the general Hollywood action car chase you find in films where you see a bread truck running with a Lambo, etc. - Thats not the case here and the scene was needed as I mentioned previously to relay the oh s*** aspect of this is more than a simple pawn shop hit.
I'm willing to admit I am likely wrong in my intial assessment .

That part was so awesome. You could literally see him change, he starts my clenching his jaw and his nostrils flare up, followed by his eyes widening. Great scene from start to finish.

Thanks for the explantion, well said and I can see where you are coming from - it does explain things a little better for me for that scene and makes it very plausible.
