I understand too. It doesn't really make sense when you have a thread about a blu ray movie: it's implied that everyone here wants to buy it. Even if it was just about the movie, I still wouldn't spend time in the thread. I don't go to the Avatar board and yap about how bad I think that movie was, so I don't know why anyone would.

And if you're a fan of Sci-fi, he'll be remaking Logan's Run w/ Ryan Gosling as well after that.

I tried watching Bronson a couple years back and couldn't finish it. Tom Hardy was great but it wasn't for me. Funny that I ended up loving Drive so much.

Excellent. Love that cheezy movie. It's a great story though.

To anyone who enjoyed this movie:

Please do yourself a favor and check out Nicolas Winding Refn's "Pusher Trilogy" - They are in my opinion his masterpiece!

Just finished watching it for a 3rd time and there's one small mistake in the opening scene that makes me laugh every time I see it. When Driver accelerates for the 1st time on the bridge, the cars in front of him never get any closer. In fact they continue at the same pace even with the roaring engine blasting out of my sound system. Anybody else notice this?

I noticed it the first time I saw it but eh, not a big deal. They overdid it with the exhaust note for that scene. I think they overdid the exhaust for that entire sequence. I doubt Shannon dropped in an aftermarket exhaust. You want a sleeper car, not something that's going to attract attention.

Seen it 3 times and hadn't noticed. The mistakes I notice every time are when Driver is carjacking the getaway car and his gloves disappear and reappear, and when Driver and Irene are in her diner and the ketchup bottle is facing away from the camera from each angle.

My wife and I watched Drive over the weekend.

By the end of the movie we both agreed that the movie just wasn't for us.

I find myself wondering why they called the movie Drive..? There are only a few sequences in the movie that pertain to his "driving" as a getaway man. The rest of the movie was slow, slow, slow, and some of the slow parts of the movie were filmed in slow motion, ugh, I felt like it was going nowhere fast (I mean nowhere slow!) At least movies like Gone In 60 Seconds and most of The Fast & The Furious films gave you what you expected from the title. That being some good fast paced action.

If I found any positives about the movie at all it would be some of the death, torture, pain inflicting scenes. Those were very well done. The soundtrack worked well with the movie, but like the movie was very slow. The picture quality was fantastic.

Now please, I'm not bashing on the movie or hating on the movie. It wasn't the worst movie I have ever seen. It may have just been one of those cases where I expected too much from trailers, the title, and movie reviewers.

All in all I think I'd give it 2.5 / 5. My wife and I agreed we could have watched something else and have been more entertained. Obviously we are certainly in the minority, and as a movie fan I'm glad many of you enjoyed this flick. That's what is great about movies, many different options for many different tastes.

Cheers!

Yes.

http://www.getgoretro.com/DriveScorpionJacket.htm

It's quite popular. :/

I mean, I love the movie. I have the US version, the UK steelbook, the Future Shop slip, the soundtrack.. but I don't think I want to get the jacket. I couldn't pull it off anyway.

The title has less to do with actual driving, and more to do with what drives the characters.

If that's the case they did a very poor job portraying it. Both the previews and the official web page made me think totally different.

The storyline from the drive-movie.com web site:

"Breakout Danish director Nicolas Winding Refn (THE PUSHER Trilogy, BRONSON, VALHALLA RISING) throttles into the Hollywood fast lane with the precision-crafted caper DRIVE.

Ryan Gosling stars as a Los Angeles wheelman for hire, stunt driving for movie productions by day and steering getaway vehicles for armed heists by night. Thought a loner by nature, Driver can't help falling in love with his beautiful neighbor Irene (Carey Mulligan), a vulnerable young mother dragged into a dangerous underworld by the return of her ex-convict husband Standard (Oscar Isaac).

After a heist intended to pay off Standard's protection money spins unpredictably out of control, Driver finds himself driving defense for the girl he loves, tailgated by a syndicate of deadly serious criminals (Albert Brooks and Ron Perlman). But when he realizes that the gangsters are after more than the bag of cash in his trunk-that they're coming straight for Irene and her son-Driver is forced to shift gears and go on offense."

Again, I may have expected too much or expected totally different. But I went into it thinking it was going to be a movie with non-stop car chases, robberies, heists, etc. What I ended up getting was a slow moving gangster movie, with an even slower moving love story, and very few car chase or heist scenes. It's strictly my opinion, but the movie didn't throttle into the Hollywood fast lane, it simply idled into it.

Cheers!

This is why I don't read media comments/reviews of a movie until I actually watch it. It has served me well over the years especially since I have rented a lot since the late 90s.

Hey, your opinions! We're all movie fans here. Definitely understand where you're coming from, the studio promoted this movie very badly IMO.
