I read awhile back (probably when Drive was first released on Blu) Nicolas Winding Refn said there would be a bigger/better edition of Drive coming out. Anyone here any news of this?

Right now, I put the special edition of Drive in with the special extended edition of Quantum of Solace. Not going to happen.

Yeah, that interview was two years ago, but I wouldn't say never - maybe more eventually. Besides, having not heard of the "Queen" edition (), I bought the "barebones" Drive a while ago.

This film is really really good. I've watched about 65 minutes so far and I absolutely love it. I watched about the same amount a few months ago and wasn't really digging it but now it is really appealing to me. Are there any other films similar to this?

Yes there are. But how about we wait and talk about it after you finish the next 35 minutes. What's with this youtube generation today?

Haha, sometimes I like to take breaks in between movies, not sure why guess I am so used to TV shows. Anyways the last 40 minutes were just as good if not better than the first hour, some really graphic violence for sure.

Well, except for the ending, which ... pretty much sucked on suspension of disbelief.

And for all who love Goslings jacket, you can buy/wear it in Grand Theft Auto 5, instead of buying it in real life and looking quiffy!

I was the opposite, the first hour was dull. It felt like they'd put in a car chase at the beginning because they knew the next 50 minutes were boring and if they weren't careful they lose the audience. And the interesting bits (The Driver's weekend with Carey Mulligan's character) were cut to 30 second montages. It felt it little out of balance to me. The last 40 minutes got me back.

But I was disappointed given the way everybody raved about it...

Your sarcasm is noted, but ...

This suspension bridge doesn't involve death defying stunts or bizarre occurrences,
[Show spoiler]it involves leaving a bunch of money lying on the ground and going on the run broke, while assuming that it'll get back to its "owner" because a passerby or a corrupt cop won't snag it. I've assuaged a few laws in my time and known folks who have done far worse - and no matter how dumb they are, one thing poor people and crooks aren't dumb about is grabbing unto money. Only in Hollywood where money grows on trees.

That's called Hype Backlash; few things can live up to being praised as perfect works of pure genius by lots of people for long.

To someone who was expecting nothing short of a flawless masterpiece, the disappointment of anything less can be bitter indeed

It's bound to happen if one waits to see a film. Especially films like Drive or Gravity. Its almost better to see a film early and be disappointed on your own then let down from expecting too much. Like these nuts that love the movie so much that they think they'll live the film if they get the jacket. You won't look like "Driver" if you buy the jacket. You didn't look like Brad Pitt either when ya got the red Fight Club jacket! You looked like a geeky Michael Jackson.

I wasn't expecting flawlessness, I just was expecting something to keep me moderately interested in the first hour. It's certainly not a bad film, it's very well directed and shot, and it definitely got better towards the end. But it felt like NWR had cut back on the more interesting elements to give us more shots of Gosling chewing. But don't worry, I'm not going to continuously crap on it, like some kind of silly jacked up hipster, purely because it's popular.

I did rather enjoy it and I would recommend it to people. I just heard so many good things and waited so long to see it that I was disappointed with it.

Yep it ain't that great. I watched it twice to try and like it more. I love 1980s neon noir atmosphere as much as your next film nerd but this movie didn't cut the cake for me. Often it was boring.
