Probably won't be out until 2014.
The book (Driven) will be out "at the earliest" April 2012. and then they have to film the movie, get the script, etc. etc. Plus Gosling has at least 2 huge films he is already signed on for filming in 2012/2013. I hope they wait until he is ready. I would be furious if they did a sequel without him. |

The New York Times review said it was so bad that it may be the worst movie Pauly Shore has ever been in. Now that's bad ![]() Anyway, there is a difference between stupid movies and bad movies. I enjoy plenty of stupid movies. Step Brothers was stupid but I thought it was funny, while Grown Ups was just a really bad movie. |

That kind of makes me sad in that they may ruin a good thing. As an individual piece of film work I think it stands well on it's own.
It would be like making a sequel to Pulp Fiction or some other cult classic. I can't find any reason to make a second movie, but Hollywood will be Hollywood, which is about making megabucks. I hope this one sticks to pen and paper and the bookshelfs rather than the big screen. |

[Show spoiler] and the reasoning for that was so that "he could [Show spoiler] *Gosling also had it in his contract to choose the director, I'm sure that applies to sequels as well. It wasn't a massive Hollywood hit so I'd expect the same kind of film from Nicholas the next time around. * http://screenrant.com/drive-movie-ending-kofi-132077/ |

A sequel is really bad idea. To me it is not worth ruining the legacy of this film just to see the Driver ride again. You're almost sure to be disappointed with a sequel. Off hand, The Empire Strikes Back and The Dark Knight are the only sequels I can think of that UNdoubtedly surpassed the first. There could be a couple others (I'm sure the trolls with let me know), but it is definitely the exception to the rule.

But I agree with you, a sequel to Drive is the stupidest idea in the history of stupid ideas. |
