I didn't realize a BD rip was out on the net for like 3 weeks.

I just downloaded it last night to re-watch some of it again before the blu comes out

What a Godawful cover...I have never considered importing a movie just for a sake of a better cover but in this case, I am making an exception.

Is the UK Steelbook region locked?

I'd say its worth a blind buy. I loved it. Just be aware that its kind of a slow burn up until things turn ultra-violent. A lot of people went in expecting The Transporter or Fast Five when really this is more a revenge flick than anything and one that spends the first third setting up the characters before the action kicks in.

I'd suggest a rental first. I didn't really like it when I saw it in theaters, but loved it after I watched it at home. You really have to be in the right frame of mind and know EXACTLY what kind of film it is to really enjoy it.

No. I like the film a lot, but there's no doubt about it that this is a love-or-hate kind of film.

I also mocked up what I would've done for the cover. It's obviously something I cranked out in MS Paint in 20 minutes, but you get the idea:

Yeah, i don't have a region free player, so I would be required to buy the US version just to throw away the case. Over $40.....meh, I'll just wait around for a custom cover (which will undoubtedly happen)

I hated this movie when I watched it. I'm thinking about downloading it and giving it a re-watch before the Blu comes out, so we'll see.

Also, the cover art is terrible

100%.

I loved it but I wouldn't just recommend it to the average Joe, which is why I find it funny that it's popping up on so many Oscar front-runner's lists. It's right up my alley, but it's just not that kind of movie.

Speaking of which, how do genre-defining, life-changing contemporary classics like Fight Club not even snag a significant nomination, yet obvious, emotionally manipulative smarm like "War Horse" gets shortlisted for every major category the second the trailer comes out? Bunch of BS.

Why would you re-watch a movie you hated?

I can understand giving something you didn't love a second chance, but hate is a pretty strong word, like for example "Last Days" by Gus Van Sant, is a movie I hated and I have no desire to ever see another moment of it in my life.

It's called life. I used to hate Stone's Platoon and now I can respect it. I still don't like it or love it but I can watch it and appreciate it.

I'm sure most people have examples of films from 1 or 2 years or usually much longer ago where we can reassess thing. Maybe Black Sabbath watched it on his iPhone while playing basketball or something. I dunno.

Drive is only for smart and intelligent people though. If you didn't like it take a long good look in the mirror

As for Last Days, that's just a badly conceived overlong masturbation home video.

Because, due to the large amount of great reception it got, and with myself being a big Gosling fan, I was quite surprised that I just did not care for (hated) this movie.

But, I'm going to watch it again, to maybe see if I enjoy it more on the second watch, or if I can still respect it for what it is.

Also, let it be noted that the first copy I watched was not the greatest video, nor audio quality, so I'll be re-watching a blu-ray rip.

Well in my little world, "didn't care for" and "hated" are completely different things.

That's all I wanted to know.

Well that makes sense, I should probably see if Life has made American Pie 12 into a classic.

I took another look at the supposed artwork for the US blu; you know, just to see if maybe we are all overreacting.

We are not. It is just so horrid. Possibly the worst cover I've seen, considering the extent to which they decided to destroy everything this movie was in one image.

I went to the Sony website and tried to find a customer service email were I could sent a link to this thread in an attempt to show them how their horrific actions are leading to people not wanting to buy it. Couldn't find one.

It was not eligible this year due to the time it was running or something...I dunno.

But it is clearly the best show since The Wire.

You should try actually going to a theater or purchasing a physical blu ray to get the real experience and not illegally download with far less quality.
