Nope, I think it looks just as bad.

They both look like bootlegs. Especially the "Combo Blu-ray + DVD" lettering.

I also prefer that treatment. I wonder the likelihood that Alliance will simply utilize the same video encode as Sony (which can be reasonably assumed to be top notch)?

Sorry, this is how it actually looks:

[Show spoiler]

I think the blue lettering was just added by Best Buy's site, it also looks squished left to right as well.

I think it looks better because it doesn't have the glare lighting, the lettering is better, the neon pink font used extensively in the movie is there for "Ryan Gosling" and it doesn't have a huge studio blurb taking up too much of it.

EDIT: Oops had to wrap spoiler tags around it cuz it's ginormous.

The artwork is bad everyone knows that but what concerns me now is how the reviewer mentions the case is alot more thinner then the usual elite cases. This is NOT good in my eyes!

Excellent film - I wish more filmmakers would minimize the dialogue and emphasize the mood and expressions of their characters much like Refn does.

Can't wait to rewatch this when it is released.

Day-and-date Alliance releases are identical. It's the catalog releases that haven't already been released by Lionsgate that you need to worry about.

Offenders I personally own include "Requiem for a Dream" and "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind".

Should be a Vortex case, since it's a Sony release..? Personally, I much prefer Vortex cases, even the eco-style ones.

What the eff is a vortex case?

I own like 160 BDs, I know the difference between a regular Blu, a digipack and a digibook... is a vortex a different type of regular Blu case? You crazy kids and your terminology. Haha.

get a sony blu that you own,it should have the latches on the outise to keep it from opening, vortex cases usually have those, elite cases have their name inside of the case at the bottom, pull out your 300 blu thats elite, your blackhawk down should have a vortex, thats if you bought them new from store like that and didnt switch out cases

Ahhh I gotcha. The latch thingie is a Vortex then. Roger that. Moneyball and I think Warrior are the two most recent examples I can think of.

Yeah I was too lazy to get up and check, maybe it was Crazy, Stupid, Love or Planet of the Apes or something that also had a Vortex. I know it's something I've watched or watched bonus features of (hence, opened) in the past week.

Wow...5/5 on both AQ and PQ!

No matter the shot – nighttime, daytime, long shot, close-up, aerial, whatever – this entire film looks perfectly crisp and clear. It is grain-less and 100 percent noise-free.

Edge enhancement, digital noise reduction, banding and artifacts aren't an issue. I constantly watched for noise – amidst so many dark scenes, it had to pop up, right? Wrong. It never does.

Even the special features (which so many were worried about) seem to impress the reviewer! 28 minutes of featurettes and then an ADDITIONAL "mini commentary" of another 26 minutes. Cannot wait for this!!!!!

Can I ask where you are getting it from? I'm tossing up whether to cancel my Amazon pre-order aif I can get this (assuming it has the same PQ/AQ/extras)
