I agree. Maybe it was the hype...but I left the theater feeling a little cold from my viewing experience. It's like a collection of scenes rather than a free-flowing narrative. I'm not saying it was a bad movie. It just didn't live up to the hype.

and no, film snobs, I wasn't expecting Fast Five going into it.

Loved the first 90% of the movie...payoff ended up being very average and some of it didn't make any sense.

those are my feelings as well.

some style and craft can go a long way and the film is certainly a fine piece of craft, but there wasn't much humanity to the whole thing.

Best American film this year for me.

Gosling's character has more depth than anything else I've seen in months. We only get a tiny look at him and he's obviously a dangerous psychopath -OK, a nice one on occasion but he's certainly a killer.

Still, it's not an entirely cold film and for me an immediate classic just for the level of dread alone.

The director Refn really is on his ball and if people like Drive try and catch the almost forgotten about Fear X

If you don't like the film, then fine but...
The best films don't make any concessions to the audience. A great filmmaker doesn't make the film he thinks the audience wants to see, but he makes the film he envisioned. That's the exact problem with Hollywood and why 90% of the movies released are manufactured studio bulls@&t.

...go watch Transfomers 3, I'll be watching Drive.

You're right. Hitchcock, Kurosawa, Lean, Ford, Hawkes, etc never, ever cared about what audiences think.

I love a film that doesn't tell you what to think, and actually has you thinking real hard about the charecters, and whether they are moraly just in their actions.

I'm not sure I would call Driver a hero, or even an anti-hero. Much like De Niro in Taxi Driver. He is a real bad guy, that can flip at any moment. Much like Driver.

Personally, I can see many similarities between the 2 charecters of each film. And thats just the way I percieve them. And thats what I love about it. Each person can see the same film and have a completely different view of the charecters.

It's almost as bad as the overrated tag.

I'm secretly holding out for this poster to be the box art, but I highly doubt it will make the cut!

I would say that I'm looking forward to this Blu more than any other movie I've seen this year (I did REALLY enjoy this one) but that honor will go to Warrior, which was the best film experience I saw this last year. But I will definitely be picking this one up on day one.

Hope it makes the cut as well. As for this blu release, I'm purchasing it day one! Saw it a handful of times in the theatre. Loved every minute of it.
