I can't understand how a movie like this can get more customer raves compared to Bridesmaids-- That movie was complete and absolute shit. I MAYBE laughed once, and it was Jon Hamm, and that's it. McCarthy was not at all funny, Wiig was better in Paul and so many prolonged awkward moments in it. And all those "poo-poo pee-pee haha" jokes are so cliche and not original.

Whatever. I know what I love and don't.
Well, comparing Bridesmaids (I thought it was decent but NOT deserving of the praise it was receiving) to Drive is really an apples-to-oranges comparison. But, I see what you're getting at.

Just an observation.

9/10
If there ever was a GTA film it would most definitely be an Oceans Eleven/Fast Five hybrid, nothing like this. They'll be going for the jugular in a GTA film, not a slow-burn.

Those would make a solid double-bill, actually.

Driver wanted revenge.

I dont think Travis wanted revenge. He flipped out.

Throughout the movie what did you actually learn about him that made you care one way or the other what happened to him or anyone else?

The long brooding silence's of the movie added nothing other than, silence.

I don't mean to beat a dead horse but what was actually innovative, new or exciting about this movie? I don't ask this to argue with anyone, I'm just wondering what everyone else saw in this movie that I'm missing.
There are other ways to communicate other than tons of yappy dialogue.
It lets you interpret the scenes instead of some Rom-Com overtalk drama.

I can understand not liking the speed of the flick. Have you seen Solaris or 2001? Everything isnt always exposed or revealed to the viewer.

Did you watch Miami Vice? There were plenty of driving while silent scenes with music playing.

U should checkout some more "slow burn" movies.

Great film, watched it twice already. It's easily in my top three of last year.

For those that can't appreciate the subtlety and beauty of the slower scenes, that's too bad.

I cared a lot about the Driver. He's a character that obviously has never known happiness. Seeing little glimpses of it with the neighbor and her kid helped me connect. Then to see what he goes through just to keep them safe further made me want to see him succeed.

Throw in some brief yet great action scenes, heart pounding tension, and the awesome Albert Brooks, and you've got a winner in my book.

Are they so starved for attention that this is what they need to do?
I don't mind if one doesn't like a film and expresses so with reasoning; heck I've done so in other threads, and it could provide a nice counter-balance for those interested - poster and lurker alike - who just see unchecked, effusive praise.

But like you said, those 'trolls': I just ignore 'em. No need even arguing or responding.

I heard a rumor about a sequel somewhere on the internets. It was like a rumor/gossip, nothing substantial. I really, really, REALLY hope this doesn't happen.

Okay...that's one facet - I mentioned a few others that were parallels. The point isn't that they're both totally the same as they aren't. But the two films share some congruence in form that Morsoth noted and I duly found of interesting note.

I've appreciated such scenes in other films, but these just didn't work for me.

I have a confession: I love the movie DRIVE. It is the most addictive substance since Cocaine. I also hate the film 12 Rounds. I cringe when I look at someone's collection and it is the first BD that I see. I feel better now

Back to DRIVE: Every line that Gos spoke was poetic. There was zero wasted dialogue. Every word mattered and contributed to the film. Some talk about the lack of dialogue, but I give props for the perfect amount. There is not one moment of this film that is boring. I was mesmerized from the beginning to the end. You either get DRIVE or you don't. I don't think there is a middle for this film.

But those were good 20 minutes weren't it?Kind of reminds me of Sunshine. It made me wish I had left 2/3rds into the movie. But agree,Drive promised so much, but didn't deliver. Was it just me who felt there were logical gaps the size of a smaller state in that movie?Maybe I'll get it if it becomes supercheap for the first 20 minutes.

God I hope not.

Why are you guys replying to the people crapping on it? Don't give them a platform to bash it. It's one thing to not like something, it's another to feel the need to repeatedly tell people who are obviously fans of it how much you hated it and by proxy how dim they must be to have enjoyed it.

Just ignore the trolls and move on.

Drive is both breathtaking and unique. Its truly something special.

However, it is not a movie that relies on mindless action, poor dialogue, or convenient story telling.
There was not much dialogue was there

After seeing this three times now (gonna make it four tonight), I think I can safely say that if you do not like this movie, I cannot relate to you as a human being.

We all have opinions and while i do disagree with you i still respect your opinion. My reasons for loving this movie was the style, acting, and music. All three of those were perfect in Drive.

Cant we critique the movie?
I dont get why folks get offended if someone doesnt like something or hold it as high as others.
Trolls are dudes that just hate without explanation.
No one is getting mad at folks that dont like the US slip-less package.

Yeah, so "critique" the movie and move on. Don't try and get people who loved it to explain why they loved it again or reiterate for the 6th time that you didn't like it. Nobody is keeping score.

I'm not offended, in fact I think it's too bad you couldn't enjoy the film like others did, but I seriously don't get the point of continuing to post here.

My biggest complaint...

[Show spoiler] The Mustang 5.0 could not outrun that Charger? Really? Never mind the fact that the 5.0 puts out more power and ways less.
