I went to the Mondo/Drafthouse screening of the film on Tuesday. Everyone in the audience left with one of these.

It's already up in my living room.

I like your other picture that you posted, too. Still not sure I could pull it off, but the jacket would be awesome as a piece of theater decor!

The remaining ones left went up on his website today about about 10:45 am. They were all gone in less than a minute. Crazy. People are now selling them on ebay for well over $100. Ridiculous.

Haha.

[Show spoiler] I totally did the same thing as everyone else. The more I think about that long shot, it looks as if he's almost just sitting there during the pain and taking in everything. Like he doesn't want to, but he has to keep going.

I also like the fact that the director confirmed he lived through the ending. There was much debate when it was first released if he had died or not.

It's very believable that
[Show spoiler]he lived especially if the knife missed his liver and intestines.

Uh, are we sure that
[Show spoiler]he isn't dead? I'd gotten the impressions both times seeing it that he does die. The "blink" I took to mean him opening his eyes up in the afterlife, same with him driving away before the credits roll. When Irene knocks on the door he isn't there, and when he pulls his hand away from the wound there doesn't seem to be much blood.

I was camping the mondotees website to get one when they finally went on sale. No luck.

All 445 sold out in 2 minutes. Unbelievable.

Booooooooooo. I hate when they do that. I liked that it was up to us to decide, or so I thought. I was leaning towards
[Show spoiler]him dying, but not so much that I was convinced one way or the other.

Also they should really not make a sequel to this. Leave it be.

They didn't have 445 for sale, there's 445 total including the ones they gave to people at the screening.

Not that it matters since Mondo posters are impossible to get anyway.

Yeah, I want to say there were at least 200 of us at the screening. Maybe more, not sure. I've only attempted to get a Mondo poster off the website once (the wide Fortress of Solitude one they did a month ago) and was lucky enough to get it. I think that one sold out in about 4-5 minutes though, which in Mondo time is probably quite a while.

Yeah, as someone else mentioned,
[Show spoiler]Refn said as much, but I like the idea of him not dying and having to leave Irene and Benicio. It's tragically beautiful in a way. They want to be together, but can't. His character is one that apparently doesn't have much human interaction and perhaps can't in the context of this fantasy world that's been constructed. That final sequence of him driving along a nondescript L.A. road on his way to...where exactly...? is perfect. We know that underneath his mysterious exterior, there may be a bit of longing for human interaction and he came so close to finding it only to have it stripped away, and now he's starting anew, searching for it somewhere else. Searching for something at least...

I watched this today and thought it was great. I love the story and thought it was tense in some scenes. I loved the whole thing. Great overall entertaining movie for me. I recommend to at least rent it.
