I used to be like that with CD's, then it got annoying to care about the packaging - and where did all our CDs end up? In a few of those CD carry-cases that hold 100 discs like a wallet. Now to be fair, the CD (music that is) is a secondary function: meaning, you listen to it while doing something else (laundry, party, driving, homework, housework...etc). And of course, to be even more fair, most people arent playing their CDs any more. They're simply loading 'em into their iTunes and playing their iPod. So maybe that's why people put their CDs in those wallet-type cases...etc |

Don't mind no slip or bad cover art - the only thing that *will* keep me from buying a good movie is cheap or badly designed packaging. Like the Back to the Future fiasco...that drives me wild. There will be the inevitable deluxe version of Drive somewhere down the track, the arguments will start all over again. ![]() |

I guess I'm not anti-package. All discs should come in a package that'll prevent the disc from scratching/sliding as they can in a paper sleeve...etc
But I guess I draw the line at caring about a slip, which is just extra paper (thicker stock), extra print and extra time, all which adds to the cost. |

US definitely has a different encode than UK. Word is that UK/CA look essentially the same, but TMK no CA caps have been posted yet. Based on the caps alone in that thread of the Sony and UK, the Sony looks ever-so-slightly tighter and slightly less yellow. I sincerely doubt it would be perceptible in motion - the difference is basically academic. Although the slightly tighter look and high video bitrate (34.99) of the Sony is certainly in keeping with their excellent rep. Scans of the UK/CA discs haven't surfaced yet TMK. I'll put it this way - I saw the UK caps in that AVS thread back before the Sonys were posted, and I honestly thought it couldn't look any better. UK looks superb in its own right.

"March of the Penguins," & "Brokeback Mountain" are two that have/had pink cases, but I can't find those anywhere. |
