I dunno why it's such a big deal to some people to keep on pushing their agenda. I just don't hang out in threads of movies I didn't like, I don't see the point.

I loved this film, but both friends I recommended it to did not - at all. It really seems to divide viewers, not too many in-between.

That said, those who liked it but are waiting on word of a better edition might be able to pick up cheaper used copies in the next few weeks. (All those unhappy blind-buyers.)

It was OK. But at times I felt it was really slow. I feel like some things should have been taken out. It was like, when the film hit a stride and I really was getting into it, they cut to a boring, uninteresting part that just didn't belong.

clearly you're new to the internet

I wasn't super impressed with Drive when I saw it in theaters but it was admittedly well-made. I'm going to give it another shot in a little bit... hopefully I'll enjoy it more now that I know what I'm in for.

If we get one it will probably be over a year from now IMO.

This is the first and only film that I'll do this for and I feel like it's entirely justified. If the Steady Clothing jacket were more screen accurate, I'd be getting that too (I still may).
what do you mean more screen accurate? it is like 99.9% accurate.

I loved the movie but I'm really not bothered by the folks that seem to hate it. Everyone is entitled to be wrong once in awhile!

I purchased the UK Bridesmaids blu. I already had a UK order going in, and I liked that movie enough to own it. (it's region free). As far as being two disc, that might not matter. I don't know how many of you guys are used to importing, but all UK blu ray cases are thicker than US cases. Two/three discs would be able to fit into the standard UK case, and I'm sure I can mess around in photoshop to get it to work.

I own it, and it's literally almost identical. The only differences are the collar and other bits of brown material are not made out of wool like they are in the film, and the film's zip doesn't go all the way to the bottom. tiny, negligible difference for an otherwise perfect replica of the jacket.

Wow, I definitely felt this lived up to all the hype after just watching it.

My wife, myself and friends had recently gone to see The Descendants and found it slightly disappointing, especially for a film a lot of people thought would win best picture until the Artist came around.

I'm not surprised the Academy ignored Drive for so many reasons, but it definitely is better than several films that received nominations.

I will say I'm not overly disappointed now that Albert Brooks didn't get a nom. He was good, but not good enough where I'd say he was "robbed". This was Driver's movie. If anyone should be neck and neck with the actor from The Artist it should be Gosling, not Clooney. And I'm a big fan of Clooney's.

Absolutely! If a film is any good it will hold up to scrutiny. People who don't appreciate what the film has to offer are welcomed to contribute thoughtful, courteous criticism. My problem is when someone shows up and tells everyone that they are some kind of a poser if they liked this film. That is complete bull$hit, and I don't mind calling them on it.

So... back to the topic at hand.

Watched the film for a fourth time last night. I noticed something if the final chapter that was interesting.

[Show spoiler]Did anyone else catch the words Rose used to explain how the end of the money transaction would take place. He said "We will shake hands and go our separate ways". That made me think of how Rose killed Shannon, and what his real intentions where for Driver. (I also got the impression that Driver knew this also due to his curious facial expression after Rose said it. Remember Driver inspected Shannon's dead body before the meeting.)

Did anyone else see the early leak of the film (I think it was something like a workprint version) and feel like the "Scorpion and the Frog" line shouldnt've been added to this one?

An argument can certainly be made that it says a bit about he Driver and his current situation, but in the original version,
[Show spoiler]when he calls Rose, Rose doesn't know at first who it is. The conversation goes something like - Rose: Who is this...? SILENCE... Rose: Where's Nino...? LONG PAUSE, Driver: You know... - Then it gets into the "Don't you think this has gone on long enough?" and what you hear in the Blu-ray version.

For someone who was all about the sparse dialog in the film, it seemed like a weird little fable for Driver to be telling, and with the Scorpion obviously representing him and being on the back of his jacket, it felt a tad on-the-nose.

It goes both ways though. I liked the movie but didn't love it. When I have been critical of it on other boards, I immediately get accused of being a "fast and the furious" guy and not "appreciating film". Which is also complete bullshit.

Drive has created a dedicated fanboy following who jumps on you if you speak ill of it.

If that happened to you then that's not cool either. Sorry to hear that.

I really liked the film, but I still have some issues with how some of the violence was portrayed in a few scenes.

Not really. I saw plenty of people bashing and film and personally insulting people that like the film. I don't care about anyone's opinion on it, just leave the personal insults out of it.

I love DRIVE... but I also kinda like when people come into forums and bash a film. It keeps it interesting. If all posts were exclusively positive, it would be boring to read the same praises over and over. I may go back into the Tree of Life thread and bash it some more (but I wont).

Do I feel like going into the IN TIME thread and explaining why IN TIME was lacking as a movie? Yes. But I know people get defensive.. And then name calling starts.. and that's just silly.

The fact of the matter is, opinions DONT count all the time.
You may think the sky is pink ("Hey eiknarf, it's my opinion that the sky is pink. To me, it's pink") - But you'd be wrong. The fact of the matter is the elements in the atmosphere make the sky appear blue. Not pink. So you're opinion is wrong. Sometimes, opinions have to be backed by facts.

And the same elements that made up IN TIME were lacking, so it wasnt a great movie. That's not an opinion. But I post that HERE in the DRIVE thread because people may be sensive over there in the IN TIME thread.. and being sensitive is annoying.

The sky would be so much cooler if it was pink though.

It's not surprising that you dislike Drive. Why do you feel compelled to only post negative opinions of everything?
