Those A hole hd dud fanbois are laughing at us now. Paramount has probably just sold alot more lemons now with the exclusive support. To bad, it was close to being a done deal and Toshiba going the way of the dodo bird.

Titanic was both a Fox and Paramount release, with Fox owning more of it. You may still see Titanic on BD through Fox.

True, the HD-DVD supporters I debate with on another board are already celebrating and exclaiming their love for Microsoft. It's hard to spin this into any kind of possible. I honestly felt the war was winding down and now this garbage.

The announcement was a real shocker but Blu-ray still needs our support. I think it's pretty obvious at this point...that M$ along with other companies are trying their best to stop Sony, PS3 and Blu-ray. Just think the company will be losing millions for going HD exclusive. I guess the $150 million will make up for it, but for how long

Sony is a very innovative company and an electronic giant as well which is undeniable, but it is still going to take THE ENTIRE BDA to counter negative publicity and such setbacks as these and emerge victorious. One company alone cannot do it. That is why associations are created in the first place.

My email:

Hello,

"The recent decision to flip-flop and exclusively support the HD-DVD format is a poor one on the part of Paramount. As a fan of Paramount video releases, it's unfortunate that I will not be able to purchase any of those movies since myself and everyone I know have already purchased players in the superior Blu-ray format.

Best of luck in your HD pursuits."

Angry Done

just woke up to home media entertainment's mole revelation that has me flashing back to scenes from the Departed. bastards. i'm pissed and now, seriously, i am more than convinced that the end of this world is coming sooner than i thought. 150 million dollar contract? that's nothing. they're going to triple that with their next release of Transformers 2. that doesn't hurt them so its an inconsequential sum. all its doing, again, is HURTING the consumer. it's absolutely senseless and thoughtless. the titanic is sinking? sweet...lets hop aboard! what? inane. i, myself, while pleased with FOX's announcement, am disoriented and the stinging reality of a long ugly battle is settling in. If Blu-Ray can't pull something off to counter by year's end and crush the opposition, I'm caving in and going format neutral myself. In the end, it's all about what I have at home. I want the best and if they won't let me have it, I'll have to go out and get it.

intresting, get everybody you can to bug paramount. If enough people hurt their wallet then we can re shorten the format war. But don't go overboard in your messages in terms of what may get you arrested. Just a note of caution, but please mention to them that their finances will suffer.

This does hurt - but its hardly a knockout punch...

Boycott Paramount - and M$ (which will be harder to do).

Despite Transformers, Sony and Disney have a bunch of blockbusters coming!!!

The war rages on... Now, more than ever, our studios need our support... and we need to make a point...

Rup.

See the Fox news ?

Way too much overreaction and panic.

Plenty of reasons to still be excited. Plenty of reasons to not go back to just DVD.

You want to buy HD-DVD, hey, it's your money. Good luck to you.

Yep. This is ugly. The war will be without end unless the retailers put their foot down. They have the power.

Clearly the consumer matters not at all. Paramount gave a nice FU today to everyone who has bought a Paramount Blu-ray disc. Remember that when Transformers 2 comes to the theater.

HD DVD is a copy protection sieve.
Its codec choice is easily ported.
BD burners/media are getting cheaper and cheaper.

It doesn't take a genius to see where this is going to be heading next year.
