"What if Paramount received thousands of transformers from blu ray fans? Would they listen?"

Are you going to paint them blue too?

Well, we'd send them a blue transformer of course.

Transformers wasn't directed by Spielberg, hence it's not a Spielberg movie, ergo it'll be HD DVD only. Until the bribe's term passes.

I dunno... it was presented as a Spielberg movie... even as a producer. My bet is it would still count as a Spielberg.

Like others have said, keep buying Blu-ray and don't buy DVD or HD-DVD. You don't have to worry about Blu-ray becoming betamax or SACD because Blu-ray is an integral part of Sony's PS3, just like DVD was an integral part of the PS2. Sony Playstation platforms have very long lifespan and staying power. SACD and betamax did not have such inclusion in a product selling multiple millions of units in less than a year, that is why such comparisons and fear are not applicable to Blu-ray.

Keep buying Blu-ray, in fact spend the money that you would have spent on Universal\Dreamwork\Paramount tiltles to buy even more Blu-ray movies and enjoy them.
Exactly right.

It's a format war. We got a reminder today.

I fight wars to win. How about you all?

I'm Blu-ray till I'm old and grey

Seriously, I would have bought Transformers, but other than that I don't feel all that bad not having Paramount around. Now I can spend my hard earned dollars where they should be spent, by supporting the True Blu Studios. Fox is seriously gonna hurt my wallet, but I'm happy to do it.

well, saint, I'm not going to bash you for your decision. Todays
news scared me too. But after I thought about it, I realized that my money would do more good if I spend it on bd. I hope you keep supporting bd as you did before. Every individual matters in this war. We can't afford to lose any soldiers.

Damn straight brother. I ain't going HD DVD any time soon. I believe I made the right choice in going Blu last December. I cannot believe a small but vocal minority of people are cutting and running.

I'm not going to blow sunshine up anyone @ss, and say that this doesn't "hurt" as Paramount & Dreamworks own some of my all time favorites. That being said, I will not support inferior technology that I believe is a compromise.

I will continue to buy BD as per my original plans. I do think this should serve as a wake up call to the BDA. They should have ended this nonsense sooner, when they had the chance.

If what we're hearing about opinion of the technical folks at Paramount is true, then they are indeed the biggest losers in this decision. Imagine going to work every day where you've been forced to produce something (i.e. HD DVD) that is not the best that you can do (BD). That would be enough to make me take my skills and talent somewhere else.

I do want them to win still, I'm just tired of waiting on getting some Universal titles, and unfortunatly today proved everyone has their price. I will still buy every movie that is available on both formats in Blu, so basically anything thats not neutral I will buy for what it comes on.

Great points.

If the tech guys at Paramount really love BD for the same reasons we do...maybe there will be a growing sense of dissention from the inside, like you're suggesting.

One can only hope.

Why Do I keep seeing posts by guys like you that overlook the fact some of us(including me) have bought a HDTV for the sheer fact of watching movies and TV in HD.

Yes I feel BR is a better STORAGE format and Ive owned a BD player since early March. As far as movies go, both are fine. Until there is one format, a combo player, or all studios go neutral, Ill own both. I plan on buying a HDDVD player in November.

While enjoy part of the releases in HD when you can experience all?

At this point, I dont feel one or the other is going to win. We'll most likely be stuck with the combo BD/HDDVD disc or combo players.

Im continuing to support Blu till the end of the year, pending BDA's performance I might go neutral. But I will be still supporting Blu on any WB releases if that becomes the case. Went out and picked up 3 more Blu movies today, we'll see how things go.

Sorry Paramount no movies for you... If you think Microsoft and Paramount are going to strong arm me into buying a HD-DUD player for 1 movie (Transformers) then your sadly mistaken. Can you imagine if Microsoft put that 150 million into the design of the X-Box 360 then maybe they would not have to be recalling X-box 360's for a faulty design flaw costing them billions. This BS Microsoft is pulling to try and kill of HDM for their shitty downloads is unreal. I am done with Microsoft. I never owned a Apple computer before but come October I will be ordering the new 24inch iMac with leopard OS.

I'm with you on this one. There is know way I'm buying a crap player just because of paramount. I'm sadden over the lose of Top Gun, but I get over it. It's more important to win the overall war not just one day.

Angry HD-DVD $180 w/ 7 free movies...I guess I'll..

I will support blu-ray and get the the movie on BLU when they release in both formats but ....

While this Paramount/DreamWorks crap is going on and the war will continue at least a year I'm going to get the HD-DVD drive for box360

$180 Packaged with King Kong+300 (best buy) plus mail away for 5 more movies.

This Paramount/DreamWorks crap S^@KS
..I want Transformers in HD so badly.

Blu outsells HDDVD 2to1, Now with this HDDVD should see a slight bump for a short term. Blu ray will outsell 3 to 2

Yep. Any movie with Spielbergs name attached is considered a Spielberg movie.

Except the ones SPECIFICIALLY CITED in the press release as being HD-DVD exclusive like oh, Transformers. Yeesh are people that dilusional? I guess you can wait until it doesn't come out on BD and then be surprised for some reason. Not sure what you benefit from fooling yourself though.
