Default Now Where Are Our New Pre-Orders?

Come on Amazon, where are our new pre-orders from Disney and Fox? Am I the only one who constantly refreshes to see when the pre-order list will be updated?

Angry Re: Paramount Decision - the Official Blu-Ray Theme Song Thread

I've got one. I say let 80's metal do the talking:

Myspace: Blu-Ray

TWISTED SISTER
"We're Not Going to Take It"

Oh we're not gonna take it
No, we ain't gonna take it
Oh we're not gonna take it anymore

We've got the right to choose it
There ain't no way we'll lose it
This is our life, this is our song

We'll fight the powers that be just
Don't pick our destiny 'cause
You don't know us, you don't belong

Oh we're not gonna take it
No, we ain't gonna take it
Oh we're not gonna take it anymore

Oh you're so condescending
Your gall is never ending
We don't want nothin', not a thing from you

Your life is trite and jaded
Boring and confiscated
If that's your best, your best won't do

Oh Oh

We're right (yeah)
We're free (yeah)
We'll fight (yeah)
You'll see (yeah)

Oh we're not gonna take it
No, we ain't gonna take it
Oh we're not gonna take it anymore

Oh we're not gonna take it
No, we ain't gonna take it
Oh we're not gonna take it anymore

No way

Oh Oh

We're right (yeah)
We're free (yeah)
We'll fight (yeah)
You'll see (yeah)

Oh we're not gonna take it
No, we ain't gonna take it
Oh we're not gonna take it anymore

Oh we're not gonna take it
No, we ain't gonna take it
Oh we're not gonna take it anymore

Just you try and make us
We're not gonna take it
Come on!

No, we ain't gonna take it
You're all worthless and weak
We're not gonna take it anymore

Now drop and give me twenty
We're not gonna take it
No, we ain't gonna take it
Oh you and your uniform
We're not gonna take it anymore

Default Thinking of selling out due to Paramount Announcement...

Call me a traitor, but as I have been ranting... I bought blu-ray SPECIFICALLY because of Transformers, and somewhat for Spiderman 3.

If I sell now, I can recoup most of what I bought. I know, it is only Paramount...but they have some other titles I wanted on blu-ray as well.

The only way I would stay now is if I can get a combo player from Sony. How many times can I say it? I am PISSED and upset.

Even if I got rid of this stuff TODAY....my only option remains to be DVD, and who wants that?

You can't found a name and just flip flop dude. It makes you look small.

Hold the ground. It will be fine. It's one movie and it will be on Bluray eventually.

Founders never falter.

Don't do anything rash, my friend. This may just be a temporary setback. In fact it is starting to look like the backlash to Paramount's move may work in favor of Blu-ray in the long run - note the announcement by Fox, the comments by M. Bay, etc.

Default sell out

if you want to invest in some HD stuff then i understand but by would you want to sell off your blu rays as well? even if HD DVD does win the down track you will still be waiting to get the blu ray only movies on that format , if it even happens so why not buy a HD DVD and the movies you want and keep your blu rays and gosh darn it enjoy both

If anything man, hd dvd players are cheap, just go pick one up instead of selling your blu ray player.

If you sell your BD stuff to buy HD-DVD anything you are doing exactly what
M$ wants. Stay the course, I think we are going to see some interesting
developements before the end of the week.

An end to the format war is in everyone's interests--especially the retailers--so it shouldn't be a hard sell. It'll just take $$$.
Would take the corporate power of Walmart to pull that off. I say we watch them. Their selection isn't great, but they will stock it sooner or later. If they snub HD-DVD, most of the industry follows suit.

Ever see the PBS special on how Walmart caused Rubbermaid to go bankrupt? Rubbermaid said they had to raise the prices a little because the cost of resin went up. Walmart said, we won't accept it, give us a better price. Rubbermaid was like...we can't.. and we have to raise prices. Walmart said they would not carry their products. So, Rubbermaid blew off that threat and raised the prices..... Walmart did NOT budge and stopped carrying their products. Rubbermaid closed a huge factory with thousands of employees as a result.

This could work in favor of blu-ray.

I honestly dont see anything wrong with being neutral, if your a movie fan and you want all your movies in HD well then it makes sense, but once again dont sell the Blu ray player man, just doesnt make sense to do.

Thumbs down Once regular comsumers get word ....

In the wake of the Paramount/DreamWorks pay-offs it's just proof that neither format will win. It will be here for a short while, make a bunch of people a bunch of money and they will both be gone.

Everyday consumers and the boom for HDTV (plus the price of TVs is cheap) regualr people (not tech junkies like us) and women get HDTV's the dual format war will have to end.

In the end "Itunes tv" or "Ondemand" like services will be the norm. We're already seeing M$ do it with movies on 360, iTV, PS3 download of games, etc...

Downloading means more $$...don't have to pay for packaging or shipping, no more working out dealer pricing etc...

It's already happening with MUSIC ...movies are the next step.

Spielberg is pissed too.

He may pull some big moves like forbid Paramount/Universal from ever releasing his films on DUD. He could also make them distribute his films on both formats, or possibly force Dreamworks to be sold to another company.

All the dominos have not yet fallen!

Meanwhile, tron3, don't leave for one bad downturn. The outlook is much bleaker on the HD-DUD side. This is all they've got! 3 studios and Toshiba with Microsoft as the puppeteer.

If you really want Transformers just buy the DVD and wait for Blu-ray, or there are alternative ways of obtaining it.

I couldn't disagree with you anymore than I already do. I can't speak for anyone else, but I enjoy seeing my movies stacked up next to one another. Downloading takes up space and that means eventually it will be taken up. No ty, I'll stick with purchasing my movies on line or in the store.

Dude. CHILL!
This is a long way from over! With all the recent rumors that Paramount might reverse their decision after loosing their star director and not being able to bring in Spielberg's films.. plus the fact that it is limited to an 18 month period, I don't think anyone should be changing their stance on anything yet.

Lets wait and see what will happen. The worse thing that COULD happen is that Transformers will be ready in 18 months instead of right now. Can't you find something else to entertain you till then?

i agree...to a point. i'm one who's a fan of the idea of downloading but in practice, however, i have reservations. for one, once everyone is downloading, what about bandwidth? and will hi-def content be available? and special features? (now we're getting into storage issues). and what about piracy? and viruses? (if thats even possible) and glitches...and hardware failure? too much iffy stuff there. For me - I'd rather have my movies on a disc then back them up to my hard drive as a precaution. for now, just like DVD had its time in the sun, Blu must too.

All I can say is, even if this prolongs the war, it may not even be enough to bring Blu-ray too it's knees lest even make a scratch on it (not when sales, number of titles and device ownership are still on our side).

So let us not be emotionally beaten by this loss but rather use it as means to strive even harder than before in promoting our format of choice.

Just a simple morale boost

Hard drives have limited capacity. HD movies are byte hogs. Doesn't take very many hd movies to fill up a tivo. When a hard drive crashes you lose your movies. Not very easy to take a hard drive player to a friends house. Plus if you download a movie then don't want it any longer you can't trade it or sell it; you have to simply erase it. I'll stick with discs thank you.

I understand where your coming from, but there is always something called upscaling. I know it's not quite the same but it's not worth me buying a format that looks as good as upscaling, pay a little more, and get screwed in the end because it fails!

The BIG problem with that is this... I don't care how much money Microsoft and co throws at this, no matter what they do the VAST majority of people don't have any kind of direct hook-up to they're living room tvs for this to work like they hope. Of course they can go through your Cable company etc like they've started to but for every layer they have to go through the less the slice of the pie is for them.

Also, whilst everyone makes the analogy to Itunes everyone forgets how seamless and easy it is to transfer your music from your pc to the natural state you tend to listen things through i.e your MP3 players and your Hi-fi's.. the same cannot be said for HD films.

Also, the big Ip companies are already pissed at the bandwidth bills they incur (hense net neutrality and all it's arguements) what do you think will happen when people are downloading Gb upon Gb of data to watch at home..you really think it'll still be any cheaper than pressing a disk for a few cents a time should one of these formats win out?
