Default Paramount Built a Juggernaut

I think with the recent move of Paramount leaving the BD camp and Fox announcing movies for release on Blu-Ray, that they have pissed off the Blu-Ray community and have made it stronger than ever. I believe that Blu-Ray will continue their dominance of 2:1 and expanding that to 3:1 by years end. Myself and others here have also increased their purchasing power of Blu-Rays in the past couple of days and I hope it will continue till this ridiculous war is over. Blu-Ray FTW!

With the high quality of exclusive content coming only to Blu-Ray I agree that this holiday season will be a winning one for Blu.

I just read another forum about some guy who bought all the Paramount Blu-rays off Amazon. and Another saying that they are flying off the shelves online and in stores. This whole plan of theirs is pretty smart. Its one of the oldest trick in the book.

Trust me, the stock wont be gone for awhile, they will replenish and restock. Life will go on. This is their plan to make more money. THINK ABOUT IT!
No they won't. And I would have to think that if they are still doing Blu-ray, they could be sued for fraud by saying they were going hd-dvd exclusively.

I agree - even with Transformers and Bourne on the HD-DVD side you just won't outsell POTC 3 and Spidey 3. Typically the BO on movies is a good indicator as to how well home video will sell and both POTC and Spidey out did Transformers and Bourne at the box.

Too many "wishful thinking" conspiracy theory threads showing up.

The facts are: They took a $150 million bribe, drank the Kool Aid, and are now stalwart HD-DVD supporters, same as Universal and increasingly likely Warner before too long.

Deal with it.

Paramount pissed me off so much...
I ordered 18 Blu ray movies over the past 24 hours....

Smallville Season 6
Planet Earth
A Few Good Men
Cars
Troy
We Are Marshall
Memoirs Of A Geisha
Underworld
Day After Tomorrow
Galapagos
Robocop
Spiderman Trilogy
Ratatouille
I,Robot
Cast Away
ID:4
POTC 3
Master & Commander

I want Blu Ray to win in a landslide.....

Also I can't wait for more titles to come......
Love to spend my money on BLU!!!!!!!!!!

Skyfire1973

P.S. I got a great idea from another TRU BLU FAN......
Everyone go to amazon.com and order Transformers on Blu-ray......
Amazon might go to Paramount and show how many people pre-ordered it and show how much money
they are losing......

I hope the OP is right.

Frankly, I think the BDA has been long overdue to get angry and respond accordingly.

Now I'll be looking for it.

I don't think there is any way to spin this so that it's good for Blu-ray. Microsoft can manipulate the studios with $150 million for a year and a half at a time? That's disgusting.

The funniest thing to me is that I've realized all the articles reporting it are reporting about what a bizarre move it was. More people in the media than I thought were seeing Blu as the obvious winner. No one is posting "Hey, good for HD DVD things should really start to heat up now, maybe HDDVD will win after all", but rather "WTF is paramount thinking when Blu is obviously the better choice in due to both quality and sales.".

Makes me feel a little better about the whole debacle.

Blu Ray currently needs something to kick start it !! They need to drop the players to $250 - $300 and then its game over!! Also, keep Warner Blu.

if you look at the side by side movies better titles are coming out for blu-ray most of which will be ONLY on BLU not to mention the huge sales jump just on amazon alone oh I think we can be quite positive about this

You can't just WATCH it happen. You gotta MAKE IT HAPPEN!

So make it happen. Buy the BD movies that you want. Participate in the Buy-a-thon.

Cheaper players will be coming. But, I'll point out that Blu-ray standalones have been selling better than HD DVD for over a month now, despite being more expensive. This is why the Paramount thing happened.

Blu-ray:

Leader in disc sales
Leader in player sales
Leader in quality
Leader in disc selection
Leader in new releases
Leader in blockblusters
Leader in exclusive studio box office
Leader in capacity
Leader in bandwidth

Leader in classy posters on forums

It seems to be game over now, except for a staggering ignorance being shown by some studios and many zealots.
