Exactly. I have no interest in wasting my money to try to support corporations who will simply sell out to MS and leaves us screwed when the offer is high enough. I will come back to Blu-Ray if they somehow achieve victory, but I will not go neutral, I will not switch to HD-DVD, and I sure as hell will not subscribe to some garbage download service. For now that leaves me with DVD, it will have to be good enough because the only other option is no movies at all.

Not much of a loss for me, I have not seen 28 movies on that list & don't care to see them. I am one of the few people that never seen Forrest Gump & don't care to see it.

Doesn't make sense.
We saw how weak the support was all along.

Keep in mind, even people like me are in it for the movies, not the format. Blu-ray looked solid for the victory until today. Now, nothing does.

Thank goodness Fox is going to respond. But, we will still have the spectre of the lying greedly worms at Warner hanging an anvil over our head unless they make a clear announcement of continuing to support both.

Default A crazy idea to influence Paramount

Write letters to George Soros.

He owns the DreamWorks back catalog with an agreement to distribute through Paramount. HE makes the decisions how those films go out the gate

Soros Strategic Partners LP and Dune Entertainment II LLC are the 2 companies in the buy. Can someone help get some addresses for SNAIL MAIL letters?

Those will have impact and get read

EDIT: Can mod change title to "A crazy idea to undermine Paramount"

I can understand where you're coming from. Like you said, I'm not buying movies I don't like just to support blu. I'm buying: simpsons movie, live free or die hard, sm3, POTC 3, etc. There are still a helluva lot of bad ass movies left even after paramount has dropped bd support.

The only thing on that list that don't have Spielberg's name attached that I care enough about to maybe buy are Lemony Snicket's {definite buy} and the Beverly Hills Cop movies, which would be possible buys at best. The rest are pretty much stuff I am content with seeing on tv once every ten years.

exactly...by the ps3 having a blu-ray player....you are pretty much guaranteed to always have a blu-ray player regardless of if it wins the format war or not. There will be a blu-ray player throughout the PS3's life...as well as all Sony's future consoles if they continue their backwards compatibility that they have had due to the fact that all the games are on Blu-ray

This isn't such a big deal. The catalog titles that matter are Speilberg directed.

If anything, this should finally kick the BDA's ass into gear so they quit being responsive and start thinking proactively. In the end, this could be the thing that ultimately puts the nail in HDDVD's coffin.
Yeah, forget about the 1st (Titanic) and 3rd (Shrek 2) highest grossing movies ever. Nobody will want those. Also, two movies that Spielberg had nothing to do with. Somebody needs to put Shrek 2 on that list.

I want all studios to go neutral so we can have a definitive winner.

As it stands Blu-ray outsells hddvd 2:1, even on neutral titles (read: 300, departed, etc.).

It would only be good in the end as it would show that blu-ray is what consumer's want and we can be done with it.

Either way, Blu-ray will win. It has over 4.5 million players in the market compared to a few hundred thousand HDDVD players. Plus, it is the superior format technically. HDDVD isn't even capable of true HD quality due to it's space limitations.

Wait.... So we aren't getting Blades of Glory? Isn't that suppose to come out next week? Is this in effect after Blades of Glory or as of now? F---ing money grubing Viacom! It's funny.... Viacom owns Paramount and Blockbuster. And Blockbuster has become Blu-ray exclusive as of earlier this year (I know.. A few pilot stores still carry Hd DUD). WTF are they thinking?!?

Default Would anyone agree with this?

Sony must have had some prior knowledge to this deal, Im thinking they know TONS more about what is going on than the average person here. So if 150 mil was the price tag and Sony thought it would hurt them wouldnt common sense say they would match it and say "not so fast there, we got money too." Im thinking IF I am right and Sony was not broadsided by this they have SOMETHING up their sleeve. Considering they have sold about 5 mil ps3 worldwide and say they will sell 11 mil by the end of this fiscal year maybe a HUGE (299 price tag?) price cut on PS3. Dunno just me thinking here. You think I have any valid points or am I just fat?

I am buying blu-ray only! HD DVd is just SO inferior. I will not let M$ or anyone else determine what is best for me. 100% for the Blu Buyathon!

They were blind sided, thats why they are scrambling now to counter the news. If they would have known they would have made an anouncement of their own and not relied only on fox. They would have offered more if they would have known

Well if Paramount was just wanting money wouldnt it make sense to play both sides? If your going to sale out might as well be to the highest bidder. Just a thought though, I could be all wrong.
