It seems to me that Sony is great at creating new technology, but can rarely come up with a good strategy for mass adoption. Blu-ray is superior to HD-DVD in every way, but they aren't able to land a knock-out blow. Where is the marketing? Why aren't they subsidizing studio support? If they want to win this thing they need to rally the BDA, maybe take a few short-term hits to the pocketbook, and outmaneuver Microsoft.

holy lord people. it isn't just sony for blu-ray. it is a conglomerate of companies acting together to create a product. it would be the BDA marketing, not sony that has failed.

Um, Sony has won more than it has lost. I'm not trying to be a fanboy here, I promise, but really, c'mon people. Everyone doesn't get to know what everyone else is doing and M$ is the king of dirty deals on stuff like this. (just ask Apple computer how that whole window's thing started) This is sheer desperation. Nothing more, nothing less. ![]() |

After giving todays events some thought I began to wonder if her were used by Paramount to strike a bigger and better deal with HD-DVD. Its ironic that this news comes shortly after previous reports from Paramount that it was going to improve or shift its focus to bluray. What that a ploy to improve a deal that was already in the works? Call me crazy but that would make the most business sense. If so....to hell with Paramount
