United Kingdom XP3D aka Paranormal Xperience 3D Blu-ray (2011) [Region Free] [XP]

I saw this in HMV today for £9.99. Never heard of it before. I was a bit concerned as i couldn't see the Blu Ray 3D logo anywhere on the artwork. Usually this means an analogue release. I appreciate that most of you are in the USA so i did a search and this is the movie:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1838618/?ref_=fn_al_tt_3

Has anyone seen this? Can anyone confirm if the UK release is true stereoscopic 3D?

I would think it must be.
I have the spanish release and it is a proper 3D Blu-ray (I haven't watched more than a few minutes yet):

This one pictured below is the one you saw?

Amazon lists it as being Blu-ray 3D:

If there's no indicator of stereo 3D or Anaglyph 3D on the packaging, it's possible the graphic designer was on a tight deadline and didn't bother adding in the packaging details about 3D glasses, blu ray 3D, etc.

That's the one mate. I think I'll risk taking the plunge at lunchtime today and pick it up. I'm guessing it's Spanish language perhaps. Here's hoping, as Zivouhr says, they just neglected to include the proper Blu Ray 3D logo on the case/ artwork. I will post back once I've checked it out!

I just checked the disc and it is indeed stereoscopic 3D which is good! I'm hopefully going to watch the whole movie later.

The 3D was really good in this! I was pleasantly surprised. Now the movie is in Spanish so obviously like Flying Swords of Dragon Gate and Sector 7 it's a bit of a pain to have to read subs whilst trying to take in the 3D. For both of those movies i tend to put the dub track on but there was no English language dub on this release. Dialogue isn't too heavy though and fairly minimal in the second half. The movie looks pretty good and despite being called Paranormal Xperience, it's actually more of a slasher movie with a supernatural angle, more like a Friday the 13th type of film, or My Bloody Valentine. The director has obviously taken into account the 3D with his framing of shots etc. and there are lots of nice angles and locations that are used to show off the depth. I'd say that the 3D is generally medium with a few strong 3D shots scattered throughout. These shots stand out as if they were shot separately and as if the 3D was set slightly different. There are a few pop outs but these are due to CG effects. there is however one fantastic 3D sequence where one of our characters goes into a hypnosis type state and the 3D is a real knockout here with stuff coming out of the screen and various effects, it looks great.

I hope this message finds you well.

Could you please let me know if the bonus features on the Spanish release have English subtitles?

The only extra on the UK release is the theatrical trailer.

Thank you very much for your assistance!

Default Paranormal Xperience 3D Blu-ray

Paranormal Xperience 3D Blu-ray

I just watched this recently and Holy cow what a gem!
The 1st Spanish horror film shot in stereo!
I found it to have extremely pleasing mostly strong 3D throughout; it really drastically exceeded the low expectations I came into it with.
The sets used are really enhanced by the native 3D: stalactite & stalagmite filled carverns, and even dimly lit corridors come to -creepy- life and look great!
I think much consideration was given to the stereo, even normally mundane shots are made more interesting to look at because of the dimensionality (tall grass waving in the wind in front of a van).
I would never normally watch this movie in 2D, the plot is fairly predictable, as victims are taken out in typical slasher film progression (a loner or couple find themselves cut off from the group, and has a deadly encounter with the evil baddie) but in beautiful 3D I couldn't get enough of it!
It's also worth mentioning the pop-outs here are fantastic, I don't want to spoil them for anyone who hasn't yet seen the film but they are so much fun!! I love movies like this where they slow down those pop-outs for you to savor. I often feel like 3D movies miss great opportunities when action scenes move so quickly, and you'll get a pop-out - broken glass or debris from an explosion, but the on screen material will flash by in an instant, not giving your eyes time to really "absorb" it.

English subtitles. I have the region-free uk release.
Movie: 6/10
3D: 9/10

Hi waverboy

Got mine a few months ago and the native 3D is outstanding. It immerses one into the picture.

You're going to love it!
Definitely one of my new favorite 3D horror titles.
I have a shelf in my movie library for my favorites (reference/ best 3D) movies for all genres. The Lichtmond titles are there, all the NWave films, all thanks to the collective wisdom of you all here!
Happy to say this one makes the shelf!

I’m a huge fan of Scar, My Bloody Valentine, and The Final Destination, so I can’t wait to see how this one stacks up! Do you have any Golden Age or Silver Age titles on your reference quality shelf?

No... but here's why: pretty much all of the Golden & Silver titles are reference in my opinion. The native stereo in those titles mostly exceeds modern efforts (with some exceptions), so the Golden & Silver movies have their own shelf.
I couldn't be more excited to add the upcoming Kino releases to the shelf soon!! I think I'm most excited for the imminent Steve Gutenberg title The Man Who Wasn't There, as I loved some of his movies when I was a kid (Cocoon, the Police Academy series, 3 Men and a Baby etc)

(Scar uncut, Final Destination 4 & 5 and MBV are all on my reference shelf! Hehe)
