Spirytus polish vodka?

As opposed to marketing -
Chris Chinnock during the 8K summit. “They don't understand why we need more pixels.” - from https://www.fiercevideo.com/tech/how...ady-to-sell-8k

Chris ^, do you really want to open up that can of worms as to what they (we) know and don’t know given the inaccuracies and speculation in your last article about Game of Thrones? - https://www.displaydaily.com/article...need-to-fix-it

And note to Andrew….”In the meantime, 8K manufacturers are touting how their sets will apply increasingly advanced algorithms to upconvert 4K and even HDTV content. Samsung TV product-marketing vice president Andrew Sivori said Thursday at CE Week: “It's taking everything you already had, the content you already had, and making everything look that much better.”

Does that ^ mean that Samsung 8K tvs are better than Sony 8K tvs? - https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...s#post16524374

Seems to me there are a lot of magical algorithms out there these days which companies are claiming their ability to perform amaaazing things -

if that monitor doesn’t suffer from either blooming or Apple raising the black level in order to hide that artefact, then it’s got to have a pretty magical algorithm in order to qualify as a true reference mastering monitor comparable to the BVM as they insinuated - https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...r#post16498561

Wonder no more. I'm leaning towards the burned in OLED image of famed soccer stryker Lucky McGee and his legendary swizzle kick/header combo that won the 2016 friendly 0-1. You can see the fabled burned in image in person at Paddy's on Grand. Now pass the Spirytus. Człowiek nie wielbłąd, pić musi. Na Zdrowie.

"Na Zdrowie"? It's no wonder I keep confusing Polish with Russian when I hear it (LOTS of Poles in Engerland these days, and I don't mean the kind of wooden Californian specimen that Penton was so infatuated with in this thread)

Sir, that’s not infatuated craziness as I’ll have you know that “wooden Californian specimen” had the absolute best seat on the set in Top Gun: Maverick for viewing the romantic interlude between Maverick and Jennifer of which even the most avid Top Gun fans (https://www.locationshub.com/blog/20...rist-must-know ) on social media to this day remain clueless to as to its location -

Anyway, no matter as to the dang pole, as the scene, as seen, was shot ultimately from the opposite angle (looking up towards the street) and the marked up backside of the pole was used to mount any wiring that was temporarily needed for the shot, like so –

Since Tom Cruise has been a hot topic of conversation in this thread, here's some amusing Tom news:

Can't say that I'm too familiar with local dimming algorithms, other than the basics, as my background is in trading algorithms of financial products (equities and options, mostly), but Apple seem to be making some bold claims.

So is Samsung - https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...r#post16533179

But as we all know, “8K TVs and phones will appear because they need to constantly upgrade to make money,”….

Y’all want rez, I’ll give you rez where it really matters, in the acquisition phase. Here be three synched Sony 6K Venice cameras with matching Zeiss glass – 180° 18K horizontal rez. Prepping for an aerial shoot…
