If Palace go down and you stay up will you want to change positions then? Didn't think so. The grass isn't always greener on the other side!

It's a sad situation these days in the world of football, with agents and Sky dictating things. Sky may have put a lot of money into football, and they'll probably say they have made things better. But they've also made things worse. There's a big gulf between the big teams in the Premiership and the rest of the league. Speaking for the team I support, we can't compete with those big teams with the amount of money being spent on players. It's only going in one direction, unless attitudes etc. change.

Body language, willingness to look for the ball etc.. not in evidence apart from Mr Defoe and Larson, Sebastian is too slow for the Premier league now though.

I only see it getting worse. I await clever comments from Lineker about fans leaving early. He already had his little digsearlier in season but no doubt the (in my opinion) jug eared twit will mention it again. Ironic from a guy who probably hasn't paid for a ticket in his life.
I know Lineker presents Match of the Day and some televised football matches on BT Sport. Has he been making his comments on BT Sport? Going to be brutally honest, but I'm looking forward to the day when he quits Match of the Day and someone else takes over (either Mark Chapman, Gabby Logan or Manish Bhasin).

Agreed. The worse thing is it's created a monster out in China! They see the sums of money being doled out in the Premier League, La Liga etc and have just gone "**** it, here's £600K a week" which makes our lot look as brassic as Oliver Twist. It's insane, utterly insane...but the likes of Sky and the greed of the EPL have only themselves to blame.

There was talk in the past about a wage cap and so on but i can't see where attitudes will change its getting worse and that's down to a new player in the game China.
The English F.A do their best with tests and background checks on new owners coming to English football but i don't expect things to change OceanBlue and i don't think people know how.

Me? I’m old school I guess. I would finish out the season with vigor and enthusiasm to help my team win a Premier League championship and only then consider moving on.

I was very impressed with the character of Davies….runs, gets knocked down, immediately gets back up (instead of auditioning for an Academy Award performance in acting like many others would) and runs again toward goal.

Yeah, definitely. That kid plays hard and is very mature for his age. He was due for a goal like that.

Knocked out by a tin pot club yet again. Moyes should be ashamed, 3 matches against Burnley and 2 defeats and a draw. Massive away following as well. **** Off Moyes and take Bracewell with you. Oh and sell the club Ellis before you destroy it, you clueless P****!

Im with you. I mean that, integrity is far more important when one is already earning massive amounts of money anyway. It's just pure greed, most top league footballers will probably never be able to spend all their money anyway.

It's not even the constant defeats Tob. It's the fact the club know the current team are not good enough. It's obvious to everyone. Clowns in charge IMO. SAFC fans would forgive the team if they saw total effort. Never known such a talentless bunch of weak, gutless wannabes. If not for Defoe, we would have been gone completely by now.

Forgot to post yesterday or the day before, that I thought West Ham's second (of three goals) last weekend was great (a contender for goal of the month).

I watched some of the third-round replay between Lincoln Town and Ipswich tonight on the TV (saw more of the second half than the third). I think it's refreshing watching the scrappy matches than some of the quick-quick matches in the Premiership. Have thought the same thing when watching the women's England football team on the TV last year (the tournament they took part in in the US (or was it Canada?). They were more entertaining than the male football games.

It was a few months ago (second half of last year) when this edition was repeated (on BBC Four), but just before the 1982 World Cup football tournament, the (at the time) England and Scotland World Cup squads appeared on the same edition of Top of the Pops (B.A. Robertson and John Gordon Sinclair performed a World Cup song with the Scotland squad).

BBC Four have just started repeating the editions from 1983 which they can show, so it's going to be a while before they get to that classic from Glenn Hoddle and Chris Waddle, Diamond Lights. Although New Order should be on in a few weeks with Blue Monday. New Order had another hit in 1990 with World in Motion (which I think was the England football squad's 1990 World Cup song).

Palace win in '17! Palace win in '17! Albeit against third-tier opposition and had to come from behind to win.

We're gonna get smashed by Everton on Saturday, mind.

If we're talking about Costa then the money might not be the only thing, first there were lots of rumours that he'd fallen out with club staff, then the Chinese make their interest known, it wouldn't be the first time a professional (in any walk of life) had their head turned when emotions were running high.
