Ah, Wrighty. Even with all of his exploits at Arsenal I still think of him as a Palace god first and foremost. We got him for cheap from Dulwich Hamlet or someplace like that, he's another poster boy for the 'small town striker does good' model. Hell, Pards himself cost us £7,000 from Yeovil back in the day.

Well guys, I finally caught up with this week's action.
Tob, I thought we had it in the bag....great match regardless of not coming away with 3.
Steed should be happy.

Happy but still very worried. We pretty much have to win seven of our remaining seventeen games (at least ) to have a good chance at staying up. Google our fixtures and look at February Penton Man. You will understand my concern when you do.

Yes, bitter pill to swallow the other night for gunners butyou are still top though. I'm sure Arsenal fans would have settled for that at start of season.

What sticks in my head first and foremost is how he almost won you's the F.A. Cup in 1990 against us.....what a classic first match.

Sky sources:Charlie Austin on the verge of signing for Southampton.

Haha, 2-0 down to Citeh, now it's just damage control from here on out. Can't see us getting much from the Spuds game either.

Well, he only cost £750,000 so that is about the level of performance I was expecting to be honest. One of the worst debuts I have ever seen.

It's always one step forward, two steps back with us. We had the lead for 1 minute! Danny Graham started for us and the day was easy to forecast the momma I saw the team sheet. My sister could do a better job upfront.

Sorry Geoff, bad day for us. Console yourself with Premier League footy next season mate, something we won't have.

Never say never dude. Not bothered in the least about this result, note the lack of a doom and gloom prediction earlier in the thread, I thought it was a foregone conclusion TBH. No league goals scored in 5 now, we've lost the last 3 and conceded 8 in the process. It's not pretty, it's Palace.

And as I said before, there's always someone worse off: Charlton got battered 6-0 away at Hull

Go Leicester! Currently 1-0 up against Villa, I hope you smash 'em.

Keep the faith I suppose Geoff. It's tough going.

Yeah, Leicester looking good.

What the hell has happened to Leicester, are they just tired because of the Christmas period or is it a tactical decision? I remember when no one believed in us, we went against the Titans in overdrive for the whole game ATTACK ATTACK ATTACK, so much pace, intensity and intention. Coming out with crazy scorelines. That feels like a lifetime ago now. Are we scared because we have something to lose now? I don't know but we look like a whole different, and considerably less good, side.

That first half against Villa was so tepid and sloppy, you'd hardly believe there is the entire table separating our two sides. I can see what Leicester were trying to do but why are we playing such safe, defensive, football against a squad like Villa? I'm not trying to be snobby, they don't have a convincing attack, it's a fact, so concentrating on stopping that something that isn't really a threat seems a bizarre strategy and approach to the game.

We are ahead, sure, but that was more on the back of Villa's mistakes rather than our qualities, Villa's defence is atrocious and thuggish and they were saved only by Leicester's tendency to repeat the same mistakes dozens of times and never learn or develop from it. If this was a few months ago, we'd be three, four, goals ahead already.

I know someone said it to me earlier in the thread and it wound me up, but what the hell:

Dude, chill out. Isn't this the old cliché that it's a sign of a good team that they win even when they're not playing well? I can imagine you fuming like this if you win the title on the back of a rubbish game: "Oh my GOD they're playing SO badly, we should've won by 4 clear goals! We won the title though, I suppose that's something, grumble grumble harrumph."

Yeah because for me it isn't just about points, I want my team to play better because I know they can be better. I appreciate that some peoples teams here are struggling and I'm sorry I can't share that and I don't feel like I'm not allowed to be critical of my team just because we have more points than other clubs here.

Another awful performance from Leicester. We haven't convinced since boxing day. Can't beat a ten man Bournemouth and we get outplayed by circling the drain Villa. Why Ranieri has switched to this restrained, chilled out, approach to Football I don't know but it isn't playing to any of our teams strengths nor did the substitutions help either. All credit to Villa in that second half, you looked more deserving of our position than we did.

Still a point Pizzamorg and we have a tough game away to Stoke tomorrow.
