The booklet of Jeanne Dielman said "this new 2K digital restoration was undertaken from a 4K scan made from the 35mm original camera negative".

The new extended version of Love Exposure released on blu-ray will source from a new 4K remaster.
The film was mainly shot on Canon XL-H1 camera at 1080p resolution, but parts of the film were shot on 16mm. I'm not sure if they did a 4K scan of the 16mm part and then upconverted the 1080p digital part to make a 4K remaster or they just did a 4K scan of the 35mm print. I'm not sure if this one fits in this list but think I should at least mention it.

We have no way of know for sure, there has been no official press release on that.
The other day I talked to a friend of my who is doing the film distributions and publicity work in mainland China, I asked him about how many Hollywood films released in China got 4K/3D DCP releases, he told me only three. Men in Black 3 (limited 4K/3D DCPs were given), Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk (two 4K/3D/120FPS DCPs were given for the only two theatres in mainland China capable of showing this format) and Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens (4K/3D DCPs only for laser IMAX theatres).

Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't Scarface '83 remastered in 4K for the Blu-Ray?

Not that I'm aware of. However the 1932 Howard Hawks version recently had a 4K scan/master completed by Universal.

Are you sure that Sony's Big Fish is from a 4k scan? Sources? If found on WikiLeaks what is the name of the document? I tried a search but end up with nothing.

If not, then I imagine it'll be done next year for the 35th anniversary. Have both films released together like for the Blu-Ray release, only both get 4K discs if they can.

Scanned in 4K, restored in 2K. "2007年に4Kスキャニングによるデジタル修復を実施した"

Recently there's 4K Restored Japanese Masterworks special screening events in Shanghai, Battles Without Honor and Humanity was screened too. I asked the organizer since I knew the restored version of this film is just a 2K DCP, they said Toei told them the restored version was scanned in 4K and the restoration was finished in 2K. So the first film in this series should be on this list.

Restored in 4K.

USA

New to the site and apologies if this has already been covered. I notice that people claim a difference between bluray versions in the US and Europe. Most say that UK/European versions of films are better quality in picture and sound when compared to the US versions. One example would be the film Fury. Someone said the US version suffers a "black crush"? I am curious how people know these things. Is is simply a side by side or is there data out there that actually corroborators this. Also if it is true why does the US lack in quality?

Thank you in advance.

On February 5, 2013, Warner Home Video released the 1972 classic CABARET on Blu-ray for the first time. Articles had said that CABARET was restored and re-mastered for its 40th anniversary; however, the articles and the review here on Blu-ray.com never said if the re-master was from a 2K or 4K scan. Does anyone have any information if CABARET was scanned in 4K or 2K, and if so, was that re-master the source for the Blu-ray?

Fury had a new 2K scan for it's UK release, the US is an older master.

Warner are notoriously silent about how they scan films...most likely Cabaret is a 2K scan but it could also be a 4K one and then worked in 2K...there has never been anything confirmed by WB as far as i know

Night School is listed as just a new 2017 Master. Frisco Bay says 4K scan and first time ever released on home video.
