This thread is dedicated specifically for film movies that has a 4K and above transfer.
Elysium is shot digitally.

We certainly could use a thread title change. This one for film, and another for digitally shot movies.

I'm not the list keeper here. But I'm definitely in favour of a change.
And is there a Digital 4K Blu-ray list here? I don't have a thread subscribed to it. Maybe someone here knows.

... and while new lists are being considered, might I suggest a list of the actual 4K/UHD movies that are currently available to consumers? For now it wouldn't be much more than whatever's on that Sony FMP-X1 server, but since many people don't have that server -- and since the list of 4K/UHD titles is certain to grow, perhaps a running list would be informative...

This is a Blu-ray forum. Perhaps your idea is more suited in the future technologies section. There are a few threads of which you speak of in there.

Rebel Without a Cause, which has already been added, was digitally restored at 4K from a 8K scan.

Shouldn't Spider-Man 3 be on the list?

It was mentioned a few pages back that it was completed in 2K, despite using 4K as a digital intermediate.

So, unfortunately, no. Spider-Man 3 should not be on the list.

Forgot that we discussed that one a while ago. There's a couple of questions I have.

So the VFX for Spider-Man 2 were done in 4K? Doesn't that sound kinda unrealistic? We're talking about a 2004 film, right?

No offense, I think you're confusing yourself here.

You were asking about Spider-Man 3 having a 4K transfer on Blu-ray, right? The answer, again is no. The film was completed in 2K. And it's verified by Bill Pope, Spider-Man 3's Director of Photography.

Spider-Man 3 was a 2007 film, not 2004. At the time, Sony was already developing 4K projection in cinemas. And Spider-Man 3 eventually did have 4K projection in cinemas.

The visual effects in Spider-Man 3, according to the article, were rendered in 2K. The film was scanned in 4K, used as a digital intermediate for all post production purposes and finally a 2K print. Unless another article refutes these details, this should be the correct technical details for Spider-Man 3.

Hope that helps.

Yes, but didn't the exact same process happen for Spider-Man 2?

"2004: Spider-Man 2 – The first digital intermediate on a new Hollywood film to be done entirely at 4K resolution. Although scanning, recording, and color-correction was done at 4K by EFILM, most of the visual effects were created at 2K and were upscaled to 4K."

Why is Spider-Man 2 on the list but not Spider-Man 3? Both have non-CGI shots in 4K and CGI shots in 2K.
