Vinegar Syndrome's Graduation Day is currently being restored and transfered in 4K for a Halloween release. (I provided a link a while back, but now they've actually begun the prep for the blu-ray).

The Vinegar Syndrome A Clockwork Blue blu-ray is using a 4K transfer as well (double feature with 2K tranfered Jekyll and Hyde Portfolio). Details here. It's being released next month (and presently is already sold out, as it was Limited to only 1000 Units).

Vinegar Syndrome are among the best in the business for their picture quality, and they work closely with their sister restoration/transfer company, Process Blue.

Since these 4k remaster lines are on regular BDs, do they sacrifice content like supplements or commentary to fit higher rates? If not, why don't just give the standard releases higher bitrates to begin with?

Bearing in mind the blu-ray cntent is only 1080, and your blu-ray player can only read and output 1080, what is the benefit of a 4k transfer?

Starting out with a higher resolution is better because it gets more detail out of the transfer.

I'm fairly sure the new transfer done for The Agony And The Ecstasy was done at 4K, possibly even 8K.

The original Texas Chainsaw Massacre has definitely been confirmed to receive a 4K film transfer for its upcoming reissue on Blu-ray.
