Sorry, I was actually thinking of Total Recall and Robocop. But Total Recall was a 1990 movie anyway. So that actually lends more support to the fact that there is no magic cutoff after 1988.

Well, no shit. I was thinking Total Recall and Robocop. For some reason I got mixed up and said Terminator since that one also received an upgraded blu-ray.

There are always exceptions that prove the rule. I am not saying there are no counter-examples, but that films made before digital intermediates took over the production chain are less likely to get remastered.

I hope they bring next year a new Blu-ray of Terminator 2 with a stunning 4K transfer.

But a petition to Lionsgate/Studiocanal could work.

I'm thinking/hoping it will be released around the time of the next Terminator movie. However, surely Cameron will need to be involved and who knows of his timing.

T2, The abyss, and True Lies are all supposed to be on the way. Hopefully very soon.

In the meantime the region free U.K. disc has better PQ and AQ than the U.S. disc.

True Lies would be fantastic with a new 4K scan.

I'm under the impression both the "new" Evil Dead II release and the International Army of Darkness release come from brand-new 4k transfers.

https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Convoy-Blu-ray/74446/
just watched "convoy" BD, and it looks superb. It's also 4K transfer ? If not, I would be surprised, because it looks better, than most 4K remasters from my BD collection
