Hi, great thread. Correct me if I am wrong, all the blu-rays listed on the main page, are they either scanned from a 4K, 6K or 8K print?

Does that mean all those blu-ray titles listed are likely to get a 4K release in the future? Thanks

Yes, it means these Blu-rays were sourced from a 4K or higher scan....but some of these then got worked on and finished in 2K.

There is no way to tell which movies will get 4K released in the future, but at least we know some that have potential to get released.

I'm glad this is getting a 4K over-haul. The MPEG2 edition doesn't look terrible, but I'm sure this being a 4K scan with an MPEG 4 codec will blow the original release out of the water!!!!!!

Added and the Criterion one as well...it seems that the first announcement was incorrect since it stated it was a 2K one.

Restoration was done back in 2010 and also premiered in Cannes. Comes with a bunch of subtitles so worldwide the same. And FOX has the rights.

The film uses 4K ultra-high-definition, digital restoration techniques

Makes it a lot easier for us too . Universal Pictures like to use:

Digitally remastered and fully restored from high resolution 35MM original film elements

For 4K.

These releases are films that have been scanned at 4K or higher.

Nothing to do with the Blu-ray itself being UHD.
