I recently watched this german release of Dario Argento's SUSPIRIA and according to the restoration notes before and after the film the 2014 restoration is based on a 2007 or 2008 2k transfer (OCN, IP scan, HDCAM SR Master / Digital Intermediate) and some shots (especially effects) got replaced with a new 2014 4k scan of a different source, IB Tech Dye print and the colors of the german 2014 restoration (the 2k was edited to look exactly like the IB Tech Dye print too) are based on the IB Technicolor Dye prints because they wanted them in better quality (4k) and colors (supervised by Argento).
It's a 2k and 4k hybrid. ![]() Last edited by Alfred E. Neumann; 08-10-2016 at 11:15 PM. |

Supervised by director of photography Emmanuel lubezki, this new digital transfer was created in 4K resolution on a scannity film scanner from the original negative.
This is straight out of the booklet. May have been worked on and finished in 2K but the book says scanned in 4K |

OK this is weird. On the back of the case, in Criterion's website, and in the original press release they all say 2K. Only the book says scanned in 4K. Maybe its a misprint?

It appears the U.S. version of The Crow is from a 4K master. It seems identical to the JP "4K remaster" release without the filtering.
