I just stumbled across this thread....dang, there's a lot of upgrades in my future

I noticed all the Sony Harryhausen movies given to Twilight Time were scanned in 4k but not The Golden Voyage of Sinbad? I thought it was and most likely the upcoming 3 Worlds of Gulliver bd releasing next week. I could be wrong.

The biggest benefit of the DI was that we scanned at 4k and we are delivering at 4k.

I thought Star Wars The Force Awakens was shot to film and got a 4K DI, so it qualifies here.

We have no way of know for sure, there has been no official press release on that.

I never understood why so many films in the 2000s were shot on 35mm but then finished at 2K. You just sacrificed resolution, and for what reason? I don't get it. 35mm is like the 3.2-4K.

The cheap way to go.....some years back the costs of making a 4K DI was very high.
Even these days most new 4K UHD disc are an upscale.
By that i mean new movies like the Magnificent Seven.
I personally am pissed off by the fact they dare to call them 4K releases

Lol. I get you. The HDR makes a HUGE difference. Some 2K DI (Pacific Rim, Shallows) look better than stuff that is native 4K.

Are they coloring individual pixels? I would think not but I am not colorist.

I could see using a 2K monitor/source and apply it to the 4K DI. Seems like a huge waste to do everything at 4K then ditching it at the last step.
