They paused Pan twice I saw(could be more than twice). Advancing from the first paused. As attendants hopped seats. I was looking at the paused scene that was not the one you posted.

Robert was there. Maybe he can explain ShootOut results for that image.

Tommy

your Pan photo has interesting shot of the Reference Monitor below the 4 TVs with it's image of the Pan scene!!!

Reference monitor tracked shootout Z9F Pan image kinda closely

I wish.

I'll enjoy it more tomorrow. Came home with a bad headache. Delivery couldn't come to the house. He apparently was driving an 18 wheeler which can't come through here, so we had to meet him a couple of blocks down to get it and put it in the back of the SUV. When the guy opened the trailer they had it laying on the floor, so that irked me with the headache. It slowly started going away but is now back and worse. (sinuses)

This thing does bloom like crazy with Pan. It's all indoor scenes. XDR was on High. I turned it off, makes the blooming better. But sitting 5 feet back you can't tell because your eyes are dead center of the screen. Some parts it does get your attention.

And this MoFo is bright!

I wish I had the Panny 820. My X800 isn’t shabby though.

Anyway yeah, the blooming can be noticeable. Still, Ill take it with everything else it does right. Can’t wait to hear your future impressions.

I tried using settings with the extended dynamic range off and it just didn’t appeal to me. Turning it off certainly helps alleviate bloom quite a bit though.

it does, but it also darkens the picture.

So far, first impression...bright! when I had the 4k Player menu screen on. I did notice the corners of the screen are darker. I'll try another movie tomorrow. Maybe a more colorful movie. latest Thor? Infinity War? Lego Batman, or Ready Player One. Think my parents have Despicable Me 3 and just got the new Hotel Transelvania 3

I did notice the Sony remote works with the Panny 820. I didn't know I was on the player menu, I thought it was on TV menu, so when it showed me the back button next to the arrow button I couldn't find it. lol

Just menu scrolling for right now

Tommy I studied your Z9F Pan camera shot a little more closely

On/From your Z9F photo on the Left edge of the display, lower third of display by that edge...

Theres a bigger cloud and a smaller cloud underneath It.
Your Z9F showed the smaller cloud fully passed the left side of the display.

That same smaller cloud in the Pan shootOut paused scene is still within the Left Edge of the screen. With the Display's Left Edge chopping that smaller cloud right in its middle width.

That huge shootout blooming could be Pan movie SCENE dependent.

I'm wondering why I get this when I press the display button? Also I just had the tv switch to Standard mode out of nowhere. I did move the remote but I see nothing on the remote to switch picture mode

EDIT: ok so player is at fault for this. The HDMI Audio was set to Audio/Video and was preventing me from setting the player to 4k. But idk if the player is at fault for changing my settings

I just watched Pan 4K at that ShootOut's paused scene.
The scene with even a huge bloom on the Sony Reference monitor thats below the 4 TV's.

That paused scene occurs a few milli-seconds **before** Pan 18 minutes, 52 seconds. Or the tail end of 51 seconds.
The Pan boat just disappeared behind the Big Fish Blue planet. The Sun is at its peak brightness on the top right part of the screen. The whole screen is at it brightest.

The expert Judges rated this scene for the Pan 4000 nit brightness mapping. If the 4 displays is going to Hugely Bloom this would be the scene that will do it.

To the left of the (Big Planet and the Pan boat behind it) on the screens left display edge___ There is the big cloud and the smaller cloud beneath it. The screen left edge cuts the smaller cloud at its mid-point width.

The Pan Sun is super bright at this 4000 nit Pan mapping.
This explains results seen at the 4 TV's Pan paused location.
Even explaining the huge bright bloom at the bottom Sony reference monitor at the ShootOut. That reference monitor at this paused Pan scene looks/appears closely mapping whats on the ShootOuts Z9F. As in Tommyboy81 post #1020 photos above.

Great the Shootout had a 4000 nit tone mapping rating category. For the Expert Judges.
Its good to cover as many bases as possible on a high-end TV ShootOut. A testament to Robert Zohn and his ShootOut crew.

Your personal preferences changed when you went from one picture mode to the next? That’s normal. Settings will be remembered from one mode to the next.

But if you lost your calibration on a mode... yikes.

while watching the movie the screen went black and went to Standard. When I changed it back to Custom Pro 2 brightness went back to 35, sharpness back to 50, along with a couple of other things. Colors don't look like they were messed with

QA a pro TV Calibrator put out a video review(buyer's guide) on the Z9F yesterday. Generally his video's Glows over the Sony LCD's and downs OLED's.

But I think_____ most peoples, AV-HT Enthusiasts, are waiting for HDTVtest Vincent's review of the Z9F. Of cource Vincent is also a pro TV Calibrator.

All over. Lots of peoples wants to see a review of the 75 Z9F.
