Follow-up to past discussion with Geoff…. https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...l#post13675446

precipitated by this post (last paragraph- https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...l#post13672822) in which I hinted to readers what was to come before the official announcement at Cine Gear, without revealing too much.

Here is an easy to comprehend article by a savvy journalist published after the event as to the significance of the next generation high end Sony camera system….http://www.fdtimes.com/2017/06/08/so...m-cine-camera/

Would be great if they also announce an update to their 2016/2017 TVs to allow them to support dynamic HDR over HDMI, since the Technical Director of HDMI LA said it would be possible.

'Easy to understand' is what I needs, when you said 'full frame' I thought ye was talking about 4/35, not the 8-perf-esque sensor that this has. No wonder peoples are getting excite about it.

"Sponsored by Samsung" - well...

At one point they were banging the drum for DTS:X to be an audio standard for ATSC 3.0 and look what happened.

Heads-up comparison cowboys with good memories as to visual detail and what it means (albeit, on a whole different scale, some dedicated folks parlay this complex skill set into helping others - https://www.ispot.tv/ad/A4Ac/hospita...unquantifiable, how's dee foot and ankle doing these days Geoff? ),

see if you can identify the differences from the upcoming theatrical iteration of Resident Evil: Vendetta…. https://www.fathomevents.com/events/...-evil-vendetta

as compared to the HDR (DV - https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Resid...lu-ray/178888/) iteration when the disc comes out.

So Samsung in their HDR10+ demo, demonstrated more detail in dark scenes.

HDR10+=dynamic metadata.
Dolby Vision=dynamic metadata.

I’m going to ride the dynamic horse to the improvement for even high nit displays finish line.

It’s got to be faster than the static horse, right?

But it also says that it minimises mapping if the display meets the target range of the image, so at any given moment the horse could be galloping along OR be safely tucked in its paddock nibbling at some hay.

It's fine, it reminds me every day of the hardware that's in there but I wasn't exactly a nimble mover pre-break so no major lifestyle adjustments have been required.

The Hawaiian islands have a special place in my (our) hearts as I met my wife there - https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...ea#post9159541 and we’ve been back several times since. As to Maui, the Makena State Park beaches were a favorite of ours when there.
Dan, hope you, or one of other forum members living in Hawaii got over to Ala Wai Harbor/Magic Island on Oahu yesterday to celebrate the newest, Hokule’a 2017 homecoming……the tradition continues

I am curious to see if HDR10+ can make it into ATSC 3.0 since Dolby has a lot of connections in the US broadcast industry. So far the only amendments that have been voted on are to add full range video, ICtCp, and Dolby dynamic metadata. Also any broadcasters that want to avoid metadata can use HLG.

I’ll do that ^ (bolded) during a lunch break, or after work, first though, to keep folks occupied on those long holiday flights home (sometimes this requires a basic understanding of math)….

To the bolded ^, given I’ve been talking the value of ACES with words and motivational cartoons

Also, since the panelists couldn’t talk about it, a past example of a motion picture having an ACES workflow, namely, Life…..

Apparently LG are doing the same.

Would be great to see this coming to North America soon.
ATSC 3.0 launched in Korea using preliminary standards so its not surprising. Also LG started releasing TV's with atsc 3.0 tuners builtin.

Once the standard is complete I would hope that the US and other countries would start to see such devices or even dongles.
