I don't think it's in HDR (I don't have a YouTube HDR device to check), but it is in 4k. |

My question is why don’t all the manufactures that adopt Dolby Vision, use VS10 also? Seems like a no-brainer to me. ![]() |

What are you expecting YouTube to change? Do you mean functionality in their app for the new products? I think that depends whether Apple's product can handle VP9 profile 2 or not; it doesn't depend on anything at YouTube's end?

Hi everyone. Hopefully someone here can help. I've googled it and I don't see a clear answer anywhere. I can't find one here either, even with the search box. Do all 4k discs have HDR support??? If not, how do I know which ones support it? So far I've only been buying discs with the HDR sticker on it but, I feel like this just may be some kind of marketing ploy because in some places these discs have the sticker or HDR logo and in other it doesn't. Amazon and Best Buy use "4k" filters for their movie listings. No retailers have a HDR search filter. There isn't even one here so, it has me questioning how to discern whether a disc I'm planning to purchase will support the very feature I bought my HDR tv and player for. I've seen Life of Pi (4k) on sale on Amazon for nearly $20 with no HDR sticker/logo on the box art (which is probably generic but, it's all they provide) and at Best Buy with the logo/sticker on it for $30. I've only seen 1 4k listing of Life on Pi on THIS website and so, I'm wondering if there is a 4k HDR version and also a 4k non HDR version. I'm not about to just pony up $10 extra just for a sticker on case that's holding identical discs. So far I've purchased Lego Batman, John Wick 2 and Sicario (all have the HDR logo/sticker). Anyone have the REAL scoop on this. Please don't just provide a bunch of links with no real answer.

Practically all UHD movies have HDR whether or not there is a sticker on the front. It will say HDR in the specs on the back. There are only a handful of movies without HDR. Bad Santa 2, Song to Song, a couple IMAX documentary collections, and a couple of German imports, Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Savage Pampas. |

His ^ EBU experience reminds me.
Tech 3320 Version 4.0 recently (September 2017) recommended that all Grade 1A and Grade 1B HDR monitors should be capable of displaying both ITU-R BT.2100 HLG and ITU-R BT.2100 PQ signals. https://tech.ebu.ch/docs/tech/tech3320.pdf ‘Grade 1’ monitors may seem an esoteric phrase to some, but it is well known (and quoted) in professional video circles. |

Personally I want it to look RIGHT, which VS10 should do, so hopefully we see more manufacturers implement it. |

Any owners of LG's 2017 oled series here have dynamic contrast set to low instead of off?
Apparently low settings activates ActiveHDR, but it seems more reasonable that all extra's need to be turned off to get the best picture. I'm getting my oled ISF calibrated on Wednesday so we'll see what the guy says about this. It's all kinda confusing. |
