I think 3D is destined to keep coming and going, like waves lapping at the shoreline.

I think a volumetric type of 3D cinema display will be more like a tidal wave.

God, I hope not. Massive headaches and eyestrain due to various factors including both eyes being forced to focus in a very unnatural way. I hate 3D with deep passion.

It will be a awhile before 3D is back in the mainstream. The tech needs to improve quite a bit

No one would be forcing you to use it. Do you ever go to a 3D movie?

They will be much more elegant as compared to the 3D displays of this era you’ve been exposed to, not only glasses-free but they will have “…..what we call ‘proper accommodation’, meaning your eyes can actually focus at different depths, which they don’t do with a typical stereoscopic display. An ordinary stereoscopic display has what’s called ‘vergence accommodation conflict’ associated with it, whereby your eyes are always verged at different planes, but focused at one plane. That can reduce the quality of the 3D and, more particularly, it can lead to discomfort.”

Think of future 3D televisions as being able to eliminate the mismatch between vergence and accommodation, as well as providing for smoother motion parallax.

Question What Brexit means for European VFX firms

While UK VFX and animation houses operate in the almost certain knowledge that Brexit will dent their global competitiveness, facilities in Europe expect to benefit.
I do not know if this is still relevant or not?

Due to the lack of processing power in current consumer televisions, v4 Dolby Vision is not supported, but should be in next generation TVs.

While we have seen Volumetric 3D demos most of that has been animation, I imagine the processing necessary to display a complex image of live action movement in the air in front of a audience would be staggering given size and fluidity. Still very interesting to see this technology progress.

probably everyone, at one time or another, has differences of opinion with others online, but you’ll always be good in my book since you recognized the flag in the background without hesitation - https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...g#post15563329

same affection goes out for Kris Deering - https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...d#post10107534 as the strong camaraderie amongst fellow old school riders (dating back to the days of the Honda 75) is unbreakable.

^ speaking of friends….as a token of appreciation, challenge coins distributed to folks at various bases who’ve helped out on location with the Top Gun: Maverick production, with one side commemorating the filming –

and the other side acknowledging the legacy and continued tradition of TOPGUN –

The speed of light, as you're probably aware, is pretty darn speedy.

But what does it actually look like? This is the question YouTubers The Slow Mo Guys set out to answer in the latest episode of their "Planet Slow Mo" series.

The video above involves a trip to Caltech and some experiments with a camera capable of filming at 10 trillion frames per second — fast enough, in other words, to capture light moving.

The final shot, with the camera cranked up to full power, looks like something from a sci-fi movie.
