as an aside, they perform well too when rigged from trees

That's true. Surprised you use the present tense though, as 3D isn't really shown in the UK any more, I haven't seen a 3D showing on the schedule in my local cinema for years. If 3D still is shown, then it's the reverse of the old situation which was back in the day, they fiddled the 3D sales stats by heavily restricting the number of 2D showings. This means that pretty much the only option was to see things in 3D. That's how I ended up seeing two movies at the cinema in 3D - there was no other way to see them. Didn't gain anything more from the experience, other than headaches. One of our party with eyesight issues can't view 3D at all and had to wait outside for us. There was nothing positive about the experience and many negatives. I'm sure the cinema loved charging extra money though.

Thankyou, @Penton-Man for detailing the vergence accommodation conflict in your post. That would certainly remove some of the problem. Hope @LordoftheRings found it insightful.

Fortunately I don't have any problems watching 3D movies either at home or at the movies. I enjoy the 3D illusion since it somewhat immerses me in the movie much more than 4K HDR. Naturally if 3D were a part of the 4K standard I would enjoy it even more. I can understand why you have an aversion to 3D, I hope you can understand why some people prefer it.

Yesterday, the DCI released a “Statement on Technology Evolution in Digital Cinema”, providing further background on its draft specifications on High Dynamic Range and Direct View Displays, which were released in November 2018. DCI has extensively evaluated these technologies with an eye to their impact on the digital cinema ecosystem.

The Statement seeks to clarify and further inform the d-cinema industry of DCI’s motivations and rationale for these draft specifications. Areas discussed in the Statement include document structure and the draft specification development process, as well as DCI’s HDR and Direct View Display evaluation process.

That short film was fun to watch. And that camera's lens operations is fantastic.

I would love working with that camera. There are some shots that are incredible...movements, focus, from above, city tops, atmospheric colors, smooth smooth smooth without blur without missing a frame without missing anything.

I'm in awe. I can see the three amigos (Mexican film directors) and other grand film masters being captivated too. I can see Denis Villeneuve shooting Dune with it for major scenes. I can see The Irishman and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood shot with it for key scenes.

Can you see what I can see, Penton...Top Gun & all.

Friday End of day quote for GBP-USD was $1.3035 per Ł.

So $99 would be Ł75.95.

I can see daytime and nighttime scenes hopefully making the final cut….https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...m#post15650436, for if not HDRing the stars on a cloudless night, then at least to visually show off the outline of the bar highlighted by its string lighting.

Great flick. Chuck Norris I believe had a short cameo in it, or was it Bruce Willis? ...Not Tom Cruise.

To this day my sister-in-law…..https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...aw#post6841644 still has a lot of trouble (becomes readily nauseous) if she watches 3D content, so she’s avoided it.

b.t.w., serving as an incentive to Waboman to travel west and try out as an extra, the hinted location - https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...r#post15608810 of that ^ particular movie set on the beach for Top Gun: Maverick was yet another exclusive to Blu-ray.com readership (social media - tweeter, etc. being unaware prior to the time of the post), following which the T-shirt manufacturers and other merchandisers have made a thing promoting it to sell their product
