Some of the high points of sony's drm,'s blu-ray drm BD+

BD+ drm uses expiring discs, usage data collection including the unique serial number of your device and location.

The ability for individual studios to run their own drm on top of aacs and bd+ and have the ability to disable players permanently if it is found to either:

1. have had its hexadecimal code hacked and a line of players can be disabled

2. or an individual player that is found to be hacked such as a multi region code removal can be disabled and the authorities can be notified!

Hi PaidGeek
This post is creating a great deal of concern at a number of boards. Could you please verify if the above statements are true, in particular that the studios can run their own DRM on top of AACS and BD+ and the consequences of this
cheers

paidgeek,

Allow me to complement SPHE on the design of the Bram Stoker's Dracula case. I like it a lot as I got tired of the old "grey cover w/ monster head" that has been on just about every other home video release of this movie.

As you know, I've been looking forward to this one since earlier in the year (along with Spiderman of course).

Paidgeek,

Will the special features for Spider-Man Trilogy on both Blu-ray Disc and DVD be subtitled/captioned in English? I know you already confirmed it for the BD edition of 'Close Encounters of the Third Kind', but a deaf friend of mine doesn't own a BD player at the moment. He'll like to know if the same is being done for the DVD edition.

Thanks.

Thanks so much. Great news.

Is there anything new on what I inferred as a visual cue or something similar pointing out the various changes in the 3 versions of the fiilm being utilized?

How exactly would they notify authorities on players with no network connection?

paidgeek, myself I don't think I need to know where the new scenes or cuts are. But it is a feature worth considering provided that the visual cues can be turned on and off while the movie is playing, even though you've set up for it at the main menu.

Q: do you know of a disc in the release schedule this year or the next that uses BD-Live profile?

There will be a selectable visual cue to indicate differences in the versions. There will also be an enclosed guide that shows a map of the differences.

We have a number of discs next year that will be designed for BD-Live. Nothing from us this year.

I would guess that a promotion will be planned when there are a number of players available for sale...?

That's too bad. I was really hoping the Spidey discs would support BD-Live features. For the last several years, Sony and Andy Parsons of Pioneer have had a powerpoint slide that shows a Spiderman interface to talk about the BD-Live feature.

Maybe they meant Spiderman 4? ...

The whole "BD+ is a boogeyman out to eat your deck" took from taking a line out of a slideshow entirely out of context and feeding it through several miles of tin foil

(BTW did you know that a Tin Foil Hat would actually INCREASE their ability to monitor you? MIT students tested it http://people.csail.mit.edu/rahimi/helmet/)

O.K., I know that some here have a mild passing interest as to when the Fox will come out of the den and smile to let us all know that he is indeed alive and kicking.

Well, for one thing, let me say that the Fox has always been true Blu, no question, so don’t let any naysayer on other parts of the internet try to dissuade you otherwise.

Secondly, I expect the Fox to at least poke his head out and say a little something, maybe just “Hi, all” , maybe more?................ sometime between now and IFA in Berlin, if all goes according to schedule.

That’s all I’m permitted to say. Please no PM’s.

Thanks Penton-Man.

For those who like me aren't aware of the timing, that would be Aug. 31 to Sept. 5.
