This is why I find discussions about "director's intent" to be so hilarious. Exactly which one of these formats is how the movie is "supposed to look?" One of them? All of them?

Mister, another good magazine to subscribe to is….http://www.cineaste.com/

Note to dvdmike, there’s an article in there interviewing Francis.

re – sometimes one’s only recourse for candid insight into the Director's preference is to attend professional expos, seminars and such, as revealed during a panel at Cine Gear Expo 2015 <- last paragraph

except perhaps when

For locals, heads-up for registering now for not standing in a long line at Cine Gear Expo 2016…..http://www.cinegearexpo.com/la-expo-overview

Dear god. Just get rid of the DVD already, combine the rest. 4K+3D+BD (3D and 2D BD on same disc even). The need for 4 SKU is ridiculous.

^ So Adrian, what‘s the viewership rate math out to be for this thread for the past 3 weeks?

Quick mental calculation….about 120,000 views, or 40,000 per week!

People, I implore you, we must slow this freight train down, please, or else we’ll break the server in xxxxxxx. I blame part of this out-of control-popularity on Agent DVD with that hand hallucination thing he does in his avatar at the top of the page.

au contraire, for one thing, it’s to show a colorist on the job (bottom right quadrant in the dark....as usual).

Glad to see Fox going hard on 4K. Really hope for an announcement soon for True Lies on 4K. Also hoping for a 25th Anniversary Edition 4K Terminator 2 announcement. That would be EPIC!!!
FOX - Skips True Lies on Blu-ray, just to make people invest in UHD BD by releasing True Lies in 4k. It was their plan all along!

Default Creed UHD?

I don't know how much we shall put into it, but a French webshop has put the upcoming release of Creed under 4K UHD blu-ray. Release date in France is May 18. Judging by the price it could be true. The Steelbook version is 5 Euro less.

Let's the things goes as usual. Your contribution, knowledge and many precious and so important information about all of this stuff and technology is purely a miracle. Reading from a long time ago our forum I have learned so much about all of this, that I couldn't through whole of my life - if I didn't know this place. It's funny because when I know so much from You know (and this knowledge is growing every day ) I have now a really fun situation. Whenever I go to shops with Tv's and home cinema electronics in my town (or to for example Sony official shop in my town) I always been welcomed by embarrassed workers and their irritated look at me and (now it's always a standard procedure ) their welcome:

It's You?!!! Again?!!!
Or when they saw me in the entrance they run to the best models and quickly try to set the best and properly settings, because they know what I said if I see how bad they set up all
Unfortunately still we don't have any 4K native blu-ray's in stores here in Poland. Even the first native 4K blu-ray players are still not in stores (I think that probably they will be delayed).

Does anyone know what the specs are for Blood Diamond and The Departed? Shot on film? Digital? What kind of mastering was done? I tried to google it, but all I kept getting was links to what camera Jennifer connoly used in blood diamond.

You know of this thing called IMDB, right? (If you've searched on there already then I retract my sarcasm)

Had to switch over to the desktop version to find anything useful. Being an exclusively mobile device internet user is really annoying sometimes.

Ok, so both are shot in film and mastered in 2k. If they're shot in film can they go back and re-scan it, or does it not work that way?
