Interesting.

I remember when they announced they had "remastered" a bunch of videos for HD and they ended up being upconverts and not true HD re-transfers (like Janet Jackson's "When I Think of You").

Yeah, those were from Universal. And they were only "remastered" to HD. These 3 are the only real 4k remasters that I'm aware of so far.

Trailer #2 of Top Gun (2020) is in 4K as well.

There's also a 4K trailer of Wonder Woman 1984 (2020) floating around.

Its alittle late for me to post here and this tablet is yeech!
Original Planet of the apes films. They were done or something and that 50th was squandered so will this Disney Fox mess get resolved and get the five films out on 4k hdr with better sound. The recent cd box of apes films were done so well and sound, timbre wise , like my drive in theater direct wired to cassette dub I made back at the old Go Ape festival of 1974.
Us original Ape nuts are getting old, c' mon. Thankyou, John M.

PS. Great Patton article. Apes were only basic Scope films but they were big and bright and sometimes grainy,Bruce Surtees Conquest Apes, but the Apes deserve the best. Whats Bart Pierce doing lately?

It is listed as 4K in my local theatre website. All films in 4K DCP are listed this way. (e.g. SW9, Little Women)

A Shaun the Sheep Movie: Farmageddon also plays in 4K DCP.

the cinematography was simply gorgeous - I can't wait to own this later on down the line on UHD.

Anyone know what the DCP info is on Fox Searchlight's A Hidden Life - and what the audio is ?

Not yet, but the movie is 4K finished:

Ten days of colour timing in Berlin were enough to finalize the 4K copy, and Christian Kuss was also in charge of it.

FYI - I also found out Apple opts the 4K requirement as well, like Netflix.

Question: does a 4K DCP mean that the film is 4K native?

Or can it be a 4K DCP delivered to theaters with the film being finished with a 2K DI?

In the past or maybe still (?) Sony had something called "Sony Digital Cinema 4K". Mixed with real and upscaled movies. And everything from IMAX to this day with a 4K DCP is upscaled/native.

Yep, IMAX uprez to 4K because they like the oversampling.
