Nope, just analog. I was amazed that a movie shot by Wally Pfister had obvious digital enhancement given his fondness of analog printing (and caps-a-holic's captures don't show the worst of it), but looks like that was Sony's unfortunate addition.

Not saying that the previous release was good...but this MI4K transfer looks cloudy in some parts. I feel like rubbing my eyes to see if it'll improve.

The original looks like it has a bit of Edge Enhancement applied to it which isn't present on the new release.

I'm seeing slight edge ringing on the old transfer that isn't present on the new transfer. Also the compression is better on the new disc too by the looks of it.

Don't mind my butting in, but this topic has been going for awhlie, but it seems like the only one of these that people are strongly against in the 4K version of Spider-Man 2, is that right? Beucause I don't have any of these films at the moment, and one would think these newest remasters would be the versions to buy, unless you'd prefer something like the 2.1 cut of Spider-Man 2 or something similar to that.

1) Some people feel that Battle Los Angeles is inferior to the previous release.

2) The difference is negligible for many of these, such as The Karate Kid and Taxi Driver.

Okay, good to know. So, basically the new films there's no real difference. That's good to know, this way when/if I get around to getting some of these I can just grab whichever is cheaper. Thank you.

I think there's like 2 people complaining about the 4K Spiderman2. I haven't watched the whole thing but skimming some scenes it looks just fine.

Well, some of these movies, like Taxi Driver, were already mastered in 4K, with or without the new branding. But yes, for newer movies (anything released in theaters 2010 onwards), it's okay to stick with the original release.

Not sure about more detail but yeah the orignal release looks sharper compared to the softer MI4K version but the latter does have better compression and finer grain.

Both have there advantages over the other

Pretty sure I've seen others question the MI4K version of Spider-Man 2 other then me and blu-ray_girl_fan.

That's what the sharpness control on the TV is there for... but unfortunately, it can only add sharpening so if I want to get rid of what's baked in to the old disc, I'm out of luck.

The caps-a-holic comparison is overly generous to the old verison, there's a lot of scenes that have very noisy grain like in capture 3 due to the high-frequency boost.

The caps-a-holic comparison is overly generous to the old verison, there's a lot of scenes that have very noisy grain like in capture 3 due to the high-frequency boost.

Overly generous? the compression artifacts are as big as a house!

We are always looking for more "meaningful" caps. Caps with timecodes are very welcome.

What i realized: Sony has only given 4K treatment to movies they hold distribution rights worldwide.

Probably won't see any Starship Troopers, Resident Evil or Black Hawk Down

Godzilla looks like it would really pop with a nice 4K scan but the movie itself is just horrible. I remember watching it in theaters in 1998 and really enjoyed it as a kid (even went to Toys R' Us afterward to buy a Godzilla toy, good memories), but with many subsequent viewings since then I just can't get over how poor the writing is, how boring and one dimensional the characters are and how dated the CGI looks.

The biggest plot hole of all being that how could something that big and destructive go missing out of sight not to be seen or heard from for as long as it did..

As someone whom loved the Japanese Godzilla movies as a kid, Sony's Godzilla was horribly disappointing. They tried to turn it into some sort of faux Jurassic Park.
