Wait...Sony's BD players are choking on Sony's Mastered in 4K BDs, just like they choked on Sony's Total Recall?

Sony is so busy making money grabs, they forget to make sure the thing works of there own players.

Don't pretty much all of the 2013 players from Panasonic and Sony use the Mediatek chipset? Not sure about the 790 as that is from 2012 although still the flagship player. I know Panasonic dumped their proprietary chipset this year from their players.

Engrish please.

And these aren't money grabs, btw. A money grab would be a simple re-release. These actually have improved picture quality, so that statement doesn't apply.

Watch out we have a

Yes this is a money grab. Have they ever fixed the total recall problem? No

Why are some of these BD not working on there own players?

It's because they rushed these. Spiderman 2 has framing issues

At least one, Battle LA, looks worse than the regular release. A couple of these were already mastered in 4K, regardless of branding.

Yes, so they fit Sherlock Jr's narrow definition, too.

It's not ironic.

Sony software has almost as little to do with Sony hardware as Warner home video releases do. Each division is run separately and each head only answers to corporate. A lot of the hardware is designed in Japan. Movies are done in the USA. They might market together, but that's it.

BTW: it's been recently suggested again that Sony sell off their movie division.

Taxi Driver definitely didn't need a rerelease. If anything, the new edition is far worse than the original one.

The original had a lot more audio tracks, subtitles and extras. Surprisingly, it costs less that the reissue.

You know that extra audio tracks, subtitles and extras aren't the point of these Mi4K releases, right? Just checking.

I'm not sure what you're checking here, because the original release already had a 4K master.

Maybe, maybe not. It's still an egg on their face.

Spider-Man 2 is slightly & I mean ever so slightly differently framed.

If you want to see a framing issue watch the first release of Hannibal UK version.

Not that is a framing issue.

Believe me the quality of the picture over the 1st Spider-Man release makes it a no brainer.

You do understand that people that have actually purchased this disc has had no complaints.

It's only people like you that haven't & keep regurgitating the same thing over & over are the ones that are looking foolish.

If that is true why does the review on this website give the 1st release a 4.5 in PQ & the 4k a 5.0?

Wait someone that actually compared the 2 with their own eyes gave the 4k release a better PQ & someone that hasn't seen both versions keeps regurgitating the same thing over & over again.

Foolish theory.

Well its the framing issue that stopped me from buying Spider man 2, I do have some of the Sony mastered in 4K BD. Taxi driver and Ghost Busters IMO was a waste of money, but Glory I thought was awesome and spider man was ok.

It's not as big an issue that you're making it out to be.

I buy Blu-rays from overseas all the time & different releases have different framing all the time.

If we were talking about as big an issue as Hannibal UK Blu-ray then I would say that was an issue. This is a few pixels.

The difference in PQ is a no brainer.
